For those of you who like consistent updates, this book updates 2 or 3 chapters every day and is one of the ones I currently look forward to the most each day. If you haven't already, I recommend getting the app WebNovel, which is like Wattpad (but more C-novels than anything) and allows you to read offline.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this story because I've read quite a few cross-dressing MC novels and though I liked them, the MCs and some of the plot points were generally the same-blushing, smart MC who struggles to hide her gender; alpha ML who keeps questioning his sexuality. To my surprise, this book was a real page-turner and I stayed up late in the night to read all the chapters.
You think by now that after reading wuxia and xianxia you've seen shameless, but you haven't really seen it. The MC Fu Jiu, who is a boy to outsiders, flirts with everyone, boy or girl. At first, the Male Lead was disgusted by her open "gayness" and flirting, referring her hands on him as "paws", but eventually, he warmed up to her due to her amazing hacking skills and also began to get jealous for some unexplained reason whenever he saw her "flirting" with other guys and even girls. Once he warms up to her, he treats her really well and dotes on her as if she were his own little brother. Until he sees her "flirting" again and then he becomes really jealous and petty (in a cute, funny way).
The ML, by the way, is kind of fresh in this novel. Sure, he is the usual cold type and on a godly social and wealth level, but his interactions with the MC are different than in any of the other novels I've read, especially the cross-dressing and gender bender ones, which makes the story all the more compelling.
*SPOILER Funny Scene* This guy is no gentleman: he invited her to his family-owned hotel and ordered dozens of lobsters for her, but in the end, made her pay the bill, which to be honest was kind of fair because previously, in the hotel bathroom, she pretended like she was going to remove his pants for him in their "first gay meet up" in order to get out of a sticky situation that would have exposed her true gender. Although it worked and he bolted from the bathroom, he got his revenge on her.
I haven't read a C-novel that has really made me laugh in quite a while. Usually, it's all revenge and scheming, so this was much needed in my long reading list of books.
Note: Someone recommended a manga to me that is very similar to the plot of this novel but is its own thing. Check out The Naive Mr. Lu on webcomics if you're interested in reading it.
