i feel like often ocs don't really have lives of their own, more specifically hobbies of their own.  i've barely ever seen an mc with a hobby other than like drawing/painting or maybe singing.  why not make some things for them to do when their not saving the world, yeah?

it's also a super fun way to add in sub plots, and other original characters.  put your oc on a sports team, and maybe that's how they get in to college, ect.

so here's some examples.

(i will expand more on the career aspect of characters next chapter, where i'll give a similar list !)

-pottery
-scrapbooking
-street art

-etc.

-ect.

collecting

-bottle caps
-bugs
-vintage toys
-clothes
-music(vinyl + cds)
-books
-stamps
-cars
-comic books
ect.

so yeah, there's millions more to add on to these.  but, the whole point of giving your ocs a hobby, is to make their character seem more real.  plus, it's super fun.  make canon characters talk about their hobbies, and interfere with them.  maybe they struggle with finding time to do their hobbies, maybe they fall out of love with them and find new ones.  make their hobbies an actual part of the plot, and it will bring your character to life

and singing and drawing + painting is overrated sorry not sorry

thank you for coming to my ted talk
