It had been three days since Alpha Raymond had made his surprise visit. Shae wasn't saying much more about it. Quite frankly he didn't blame her.

Currently he and Jerod were on a smoke break while at work. The last few days had his stress at an all time high amd he had managed to smoke through a box and a half of cigarettes before Shae said something about it.

He had taken her to see Katherine for the day because she'd asked to go. The morning had been stressful due to convoluted driving instructions to Katherine's house, but eventually he got Shae there.

He knew it was a risk now, for everyone involved with her, but if the council had had an issue, perhaps they should've addressed him a year ago about it instead of taking shit into their own hands, or rather alpha Raymond's.

"So we're going to have to put a hold on construction now, won't we?" Jerod said. Bringing him from his thoughts.

He hadn't informed the entire pack of the situation, money would be tight for a while, until things could pick back up again. It wouldn't be the first time, but he hoped it to be the last.

"I honestly don't know, we'll have to see what the other Alphas' responses are before we stop completely," No other Alphas had contacted him yet about it, which means the council was still in deliberation...if Alpha Raymond had acted on his word.

"Shouldn't the pack be informed of this?" Jerod remarked.

"Not yet. Until I hear from the council, only you, myself, and Shae, shall know of these circumstances," Damien said in response.

Jerod stayed silent.

The day had dragged, and while it was only two in the afternoon, it felt like it should be five, and he should be headed to pick Shae up from Katherine's.

After he took the final drag from his cigarette, he threw the butt out and headed back to work. While he was the boss, he liked doing the hard work of lifting wood onto the pallets, and it helped clear his head and keep him focused on the task at hand. He wasn't the only one doing this part of the process, but the others assigned to it knew when he needed to be.

Jerod managed the inside jobs.

Time seemed to fly, and before he knew it Jerod had to come get him to close operations for the day.

He was oitside of Katherine's house, ready to knock on the frojt door when a pel of child's laughter followed by two women laughing echoed from the house. He smiled at this. Shae was so lucky to have this friendship and not have to hide who she was. He would not be so lucky if he tried to make friends with a human.

He knocked.

Katherine answered the door.

"You've come to kidnap her from me again, have you?" She smirked while saying this.

"Something like that, yes," he responded.

"Shae! Damien is here!" Katherine called back into the house.

"I trust you had a good day?" He said. He felt awkward stadnung there saying nothing, so he jsut filled in the silence with a question.

"It was nice having her around. She told me about the ceremony, pity I couldn't come, but I understand the reasoning behind it," Damien could tell that Katherine really cared for Shae. For which he was ever grateful, he wouldn't have her without this human.

Shae came into view. She was holding a child, a full smile graced her face.

"Damien, this is Charlie, isn't he so cute?!" He had to agree. The little boy was adorable. He could see the loning in Shae's eyes as she looked at the child. And it made his chest ache because a child, or several, was something he so desired himself.

"Here you go Katherine," Shae handed her the boy. "It was a good time today, thank you," the two women hugged before they departed.

"You are welcome back any time, Shae!" Katherine called as they got into his vehicle.

"Okay!" She responded with a wave.

The drive home was eventful, shae told him everything she got to do today with Katherine. They went to the park and she experienced swings for the first time ever, had icecream, and then lunch together.

He somewhat envied their relationship, but kept that to himself. As she talked he noticed her speech was still improving every day, which was good.

"I want a pup, a child," he nearly slammed on the brakes when she said this. It was amazing to know they were of the same mindset, but it still shocked him regardless.

"Me too. I saw the way you were with the little boy, Charlie, and knew," he told her.

"My next heat cycle is not for a time, but I want to then," she said. Would they even make it to her next cycle with the threat looming over their heads, unspoken about?

"Okay," he said. Not sure of what else to say.

When they got back, Damien was ready to prepare dinner for them, he wasn't sure how hungry Shae was, but he for sure was famished.
