I was about to finish my book when you interrupted and told me how you found a better one, stacked underneath your pile of other books you never finished. You always give me book recommendations once you see that I'm about to finish one. You once told me to always stop reading when I'm at the last 10 pages of the book. And we'd talk about how we wanted to finish the story if we wrote it. We'd discuss endings that never happened, and we'd discuss why it was better than the book. You told me once that there was power in knowing how it ends, but there is more power in not knowing because we can see how it ends for us.
