y/n and jasper once again closed their books when the clock hit 11am. she stretched, laying down like a starfish on the bed. jasper laughed quietly, laying down beside her and staring at the ceiling.

"you know you never told me your story." she hummed, staring at jasper's soft looking skin.

"i didn't have quite the same upbringing as my adopted siblings, almost all of them were bitten by carlisle." jasper sat up and began pulling his shirt off.

"what are you doing?" she giggled, going to close her eyes to give him privacy.

"just watch." he held her wrists gently and pulled them off her eyes, "bite marks."

"like mine."

"like yours." he nodded, pulling his shirt back up. y/n joking rolled her eyes, jasper shirtless was a good sight for her eyes.

"all the training the confederate army gave me was useless against the newborns. even so, i've never lost a fight." he started, laying back down and turned so y/n and him were facing each other.

"during the civil war?"

"youngest major in the texas cavalry," jasper smirked when y/n oooed, "all without seeing a real battle, before i met a certain immortal. i was riding back to galveston after evacuating a colony of women and children when i saw her and two others. as one would, i immediately offered my aid."

"gentleman." she smiled, jasper raised his eyebrows in amusement before continuing with his story. he spoke about how he was bitten by maria and that she wss creating an army of newborns to help in the territorial war.

"they were very common in the south and maria won them all. she was smart and careful and i was her second in comment so my ability to control emotions served her well." he looked sad for a minute, "she never let newborns live past a year. and it was my ability to dispose of them."

"you could feel everything they felt as they die- were disposed?" she whispered and he nodded.

"i hated it. so one day, i got up and left. never looking back." he inched closer to y/n, "i bumped into edward and he took me in to carlisle and i've been with them since which is why i was so certain on letting you stay here," he leaned in and left a soft kiss on her nose.

she smiled under his touch and looked back at him, "and i'm forever grateful."

"i thought what maria and i had was love but it took me meeting my friend, peter, to realise i was a puppet and she pulled the strings. i owe my life to him." he smiled at her.

"guess i'll have to meet this peter and thank him for helping you." she grinned.

he nodded, "you know alice told me about you? when i first began living with them, she told me that one day i'd meet my soulmate and she roughly described you.

"soulmate?" y/n asked, wanting to make sure she heard correctly.

"soulmate." he confirmed and looked at her. he felt that she wasn't scared or anything of the sort so he relaxed.

y/n looked at him happily and nodded slowly before putting a hand on his cheek and rubbing it with her thumb. he closed his eyes and wrapped an arm around her waist. they enjoyed the silence for a while before y/n got up to open the curtains, wanting  a bit of sunlight so she could stare at jasper's beautiful glowing skin. when she drew back the curtains, she gasped in shock.

"snow." she whispered, "they're coming."
