I do wonder if anyone in this palace is actually to Rashta so this can be a good chance to prove that. Sovieshit has provided me with a maid and a knight, as standard for a concubine, but I want to survive in this world, I have to make sure they are trustworthy. Just a food for thought.

After the letter fiasco with Duke Elegy, Alan caught up to the message of my letter and went to my palace with Duke Elegy. He must have insisted to come! Ugh!

Honestly, I didn't know how to face Alan, not especially with the Duke around.

This was a mess, if I send Duke Elegy away, it can create stirrups, but if I don't, it will reveal a lot of my secrets before things could fall into place! As much as that is a right thing to do, I do not want to die!

Unless....

"Good day to you, Lady Rashta." Both Alan and Duke Elegy bowed as a sign of gesture and just sat down, letting my maids offer them tea as part of royal court etiquette.

"Likewise, gentlemen. However, Rashta did not expect that you would be also coming by, Duke Elegy. I was hoping to be talking to Lord Alan Lotteshu alone. You do know why, right?"  I smiled and gripped my dress out of frustration since my plans slightly went astray, but I know I can make the best out of the situation.

"Mhm. Yes, but am I not your friend, Lady Rashta? I wish all the best for you, and it is not good to be alone with someone you have past with, especially when you are married to the Emperor of this country." He retaliated back and I couldn't help but agree.

Well, this is better than Rashta saying she wants the Duke to be her concubine, right?

"Very well." I took a sip of tea and looked my former lover in the eye, filled with disgust and scorn for how much of a coward he was.

Suddenly, before I were even to begin muttering my terms with him, I remembered what happened between me and him.

I remembered the day when I first ran away from their mansion. Both and Alan had plans to live our lives peacefully in a far off village, not caring what his father would feel in order to raise our child, but he never came through and the last thing I remembered after that I was back there, in the cell where I had been punished for even attempting to escape.

I got back into my sense of reality and held my composure.

With that kind of a backstory, I do understand know why some people pity Trashta but she was still a bitch in the canon.

Good thing I am here now hehe~

"It's a good thing you are able to come here. I thought you won't be allowed by your father." I said as an opening line, looking away.

Awkwardness filled the air and he couldn't help but be ashamed of what just happened between us.

"Now, now, Lady Rashta~ I was only able to escort him out by pretending to be his friend."

Alan put up a very shamed look and couldn't look at me in the eye. He now have realized how wrong he was towards our child.

"This is your only chance of making this right for Ian. Are you on my side?" I said.

Alan knelt down and looked down on the floor.

"I'd do anything! Please! It's eating my conscience every night! I couldn't sleep knowing I have wronged you and continuingly doing so!"

Although he apologized extensively, I couldn't help but be mad at him. He just looked pathetic groveling on the ground like that. Once again, I got a lot of money, which is worth months of my budget, in estimation would let him live comfortably for a while.

"Use this money and live a life. Do the right thing. I do not wish to be extorted by your father anymore and don't forget you owe your life to me. In addition, there is more to that. I just do not like being connected to your father anymore. I rather give it to you. Don't double-cross me, Alan. I could get you killed. In there is the address I prepared. Live."

I tried to be as vague as I can be, but Duke Ergi had heard all of the conversation. I dismissed Alan for a bit to let him think about the offer I gave him, before I could just make a scene in the Imperial Court or actually ride this rollercoaster.

I could tell that Duke Ergi wants to press me at this point, so I prepared myself for every possible question he had in mind.

"Why are you so concerned about Alan living on his own?" He asked.

"As much as I have secrets, I also know yours, Duke. It'd be best if we work together." I stated as I walked towards the window while facing my back at him, looking down on the palace surroundings and thinking about my next plans.

"Oh? What do you know, you little minx?" Duke Ergi suddenly stood up from his sitting position and grabbed my hand to make me face him and finally cornering me to the wall with a smirk plastered on his face.
