Review:
It's a good history novel. I think there's 2 parts, the first part of the story related to their childhood where it told about FL's family while the later revolve about imperial throne. I like the character development and the surprise twisted plot. After finish reading it, I check the novel tags in novelupdates.com and there's rape tag, it is a bit funny since that refer to FL dad.
ML transmigrated as an unfavored prince due to his mother humble background. He married FL but never touch her. He secretly love her but never dare to sully her. Both of them died because the new emperor killed all the other siblings. ML rebirth as 7-8 yo. He tried to become better and get close to FL.
FL father is ambitious, he married FL mother who is a duke's daughter to get their help. In previous life, he got military merit then join the 2nd prince faction and destroy the duke's family. In this life, FL met ML early. Due to ML's suggestion, FL become tougher and fierce to protect her brother. FL mother is naive and fool, she believe her husband and his family without realizing they only use her family background and bully her. FL met ML in the duke's residence when ML is kicked out of the palace and waiting his prince manor getting build. FL run to the duke's residence for help. Due to ML's help, FL mother slowly realize the truth. She took away her children to another manor. In the end FL father career got ruined then he tried to join 2nd prince faction which was led by his uncle. The uncle is homosexual, and that's the rape. He drug FL dad and do the deed. I think his love can be ranked as 2nd after ML since it seems like he is sincere to FL dad 😂 FL dad got disgusted but in the end he keep asking his help in turn for sleeping with him.
ML and FL already married when FL mother got attacked. She was attacked by FL dad's lover. Then the duke family retaliate and killed FL dad. FL dad was saved by his lover but he got depression since his mother dead and his family ruined. In the end he become his lover lackey and died together when the rebel failed.
About the imperial throne, there are 5 princes. The first is crown prince, 2nd and 3rd are born by concubine Xu, 4th is ML and 5th is a mute. ML keep fatten himself to avoid limelight, he also act dumb in order not get killed by empress and concubine xu. The 5th prince mother was a small concubine. She is afraid to be harmed by empress and concubine xu so she hide her pregnancy. Until 5th prince is 6 yo, they found out about him. His mother already insane because she shut in both herself and her son. The 5th prince suffered trauma and become mute.
In the end, 5th prince also rebirth and began to gather power. When there's chaos in capital due to rebel, he and ML take advantage and kill the crown prince and 2nd prince. The 3rd prince lost his arm during the rebel. Without choice, the emperor point 5th prince as crown prince. ML got his wish as idle prince. Fyi ML will keep fat and shameless until the end. Only last chapter he lost weight and become macho 😂
