"if you were an animal, what animal would you be?"
drew looked over at the girl sitting next to him in the sand. "i don't know- a dog, maybe?"
she sighed. "drew, that is the most generic answer in the world."
"hold on, hold on!" drew said defensively. "don't you think so, too?"
she couldn't keep a smile off of her face. "definitely a golden retriever."
"i don't know, i was thinking more of a chihuahua, maybe?"
cami giggled. "well, i'd probably be a cat—"
"oh, because that's not generic at all?"
"shhhhh," she grinned. "but cats are seriously the best." at his face, she said quickly, "and dogs!"
he chuckled. "your spirit animal is, like, a teddy bear."
cami rolled over onto her side so she was closer to him. "that's not even a real animal, silly."
he shrugged, his muscles flexing all down his back. cami's smile faded slightly as she looked over at him. they were inches away.
what cami did next was so surprising, she might have actually been possessed.
she leaned forward, kissing him lightly, quickly.
she pulled away to see a grin on his face. "did you just kiss me, camille devaux?"
her face was pink. "sorry, i know—"
he cut her off as he closed the space between them, kissing her; but this time it wasn't fast, or nervous. cami wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened the kiss, and drew's arms snaked around her body, holding her close to them. when they broke away, cami was out of breath.
"i've wanted to do that ever since i met you."
