As I placed the full stop at the end of the line, I closed my diary, feeling a sense of finality. I shut my eyes, and in that moment, a blissful aroma reached my soul—an olfactory embrace of fallen water droplets on the ground, the petrichor.

Glancing out of the window, I saw the soft rain descending from the sky, gently tapping on my door. A smile tugged at the corners of my lips, a bittersweet reminder of every moment I had spent with you—moments I struggled to forget during those two years.

The tears welled up, tracing a steady path down my cheeks, as memories came rushing back. Memories of us—of the day we first met, when I stood waiting for my dad to pick me up.
