Words Of A Family That Once Were

Your words intrude my mind,

Like an old painting fading into blankness.

Memories of yesterday’s gone by.

Visions of a once upon a time that are no more.

Were we ever strong?

Have we always been broken like glass?

Wishes wonder wanting to be real,

But I know this is how it is.

We were never a happily ever after.

People forced to be together.

Looking at other families I see what I have missed.

I hold a grudge against you, family, for not being like this.

Mother why have you blamed it all away?

Father why couldn’t you have tried harder to show love?

Brother do not judge.

Brother do not point fingers.

Brother do not believe the lies.

Can I escape this and feel free?

How can I know who I am without seeing who you truly are?

What is a person without a past?

If wishes came true…

I would wish for a stronger me and you…
