Rosalyn carried Alec's unconscious body towards his bedroom, which thankfully, was just down the hall. After setting him on the bed, Rosalyn pulled the covers over him and kissed his forehead.

"Rest well, my love." she whispered.

Rosalyn walked towards the balcony, looking over the busy city of Volterra. The sun was beating on them strongly, heat radiating off of the buildings, slowly making their way towards the rest of the city. Rosalyn took out a dandelion and smiled, twirling it around in her hand.

"I wish that Alec and I could love each other again." she whispered, gently blowing the little fluffs off the flower.

The fluff slowly made its way down to the city, where it landed in the Volturi garden, rooting itself down in the ground, ready to sprout when the rain pours again. One....two....three....four....five.... It's been five weeks since Rosalyn became the servant of the only man she thought she could trust. She slowly sang, shakily at first, but slowly regaining her voice.

"I guess you really did it this time

Left yourself in your warpath

Lost your balance on a tightrope

Lost your mind tryin' to get it back

Wasn't it easier in your lunchbox days?

Always a bigger bed to crawl into

Wasn't it beautiful when you believed in everything

And everybody believed in you?

It's alright, just wait and see

Your string of lights is still bright to me

Oh, who you are is not where you've been.

You're still an innocent,

You're still an innocent.

Did some things you can't speak of

But at night you live it all again

You wouldn't be shattered on the floor now

If only you had seen what you know now then

Wasn't it easier in your firefly-catchin' days?

When everything out of reach, someone bigger brought down to you

Wasn't it beautiful runnin' wild 'til you fell asleep

Before the monsters caught up to you?

It's alright, just wait and see

Your string of lights is still bright to me

Oh, who you are is not what you've been

You're still an innocent

It's okay, life is a tough crowd

32, and still growin' up now

Who you are is not what you did.

You're still an innocent.

Time turns flames to embers

You'll have new Septembers

Every one of us has messed up too

Minds change like the weather

I hope you remember

Today is never too late to be brand new

It's alright, just wait and see

Your string of lights is still bright to me

Oh, who you are is not what you've been

You're still an innocent.

It's okay, life is a tough crowd

32, and still growin' up now

Who you are is not what you did

You're still an innocent.

You're still an innocent.

Lost your balance on a tightrope.

It's never too late to get it back."

("Innocent" by Taylor Swift)

"You have a beautiful voice dear." spoke an old and distant voice.

Rosalyn turned around and saw Marcus at the doorway.

"Thank you." she smiled weakly.

Marcus slowly glanced at Alec's unconscious form.

"He does love you, you know. He always has. It may not seem like it but your bond is the strongest I have seen in a long time. You two remind me of my Didyme. She would support you two if she were still alive." smiled Marcus, sadly.

"Who is Didyme?" Rosalyn asked.

"My dead wife." he responded.

"Oh. I'm so sorry. I didn't know." said Rosalyn, embarrassed.

Marcus smiled.

"How would you have known? It's not your fault dear." said Marcus.

Rosalyn smiled back and looked at Alec, slowly walking towards him and brushing his hair back.

"I did love him very much. And I still do." she whispered.

"I know. I can just feel it radiating off you two." smiled Marcus.

"Do you really believe that Alec loves me back?" asked Rosalyn, seriously doubting it.

Marcus sighed and sat in a chair next to Rosalyn.

"Your relationship is rather complicated, I have to admit. You will start off with a strong start. However, after a while of separation, one will act like he or she doesn't love the other anymore. But in the end, their love will be stronger than concrete, withstanding anything and everything in its path. It was the love that was meant to be from the very beginning of time. That is your love. Keep trying dear. He will love you. He does. Trust me. I would know." chuckled Marcus.

"Thank you Marcus. " smiled Rosalyn, hearing the ancient laugh for the first time.

"Anything for you dear. And you don't have to stay in this room. You can wander around in this castle if you would like. Just tell Alec that I gave you permission to."

"Thank you. Again."

"No problem dear. No problem."
