Chapter 12- Even if it Takes Forever

Alec gently set Rosalyn's unconscious body onto the bed, pulling the covers over her small, bruised body. He sat at the edge of the bed, stroking her hair and sighing.

"I'm so sorry. I should've been there to protect you." he whispered.

The door slowly creaked open, revealing Alec's twin.

"You really care for her don't you?" asked Jane, from the doorway, her bright crimson eyes gazing at Rosalyn's sleeping form.

"No." said Alec, shaking his head.

"Don't lie brother." said Jane, scowling.

"I'm not lying. I don't care for her. I love her." said Alec, looking up with all the sincerity in the world.

"That's what I thought." smiled Jane.

Jane walked over, picking Hamlet off the shelf, and sat in a chair.

"Do you think she'll ever forgive me?" asked Alec, out of nowhere, still stroking Rosalyn's cheek.

Jane looked up from the book that she was reading.

"Alec, it will take time and a lot of effort. But I know that she will. Because she always forgives and forgets. That's why she's so vulnerable. You need to show her that you will not take advantage of that..... like most people have. Show her that you're something special to treasure and love. Show her that you truly love her. And make her love you back." smiled Jane.

"I will. And nothing will ever stop me." sighed Alec, stroking her hair.

"I know." stated Jane, shifting her gaze back to the book.

"Even if it takes forever." whispered Alec.

"Well, we do have forever." smiled Jane.

Alec switched on the radio and a song started to play. It seemed to match the situation perfectly.
