Rock followed ruby and jaune to a large building labeled the Auditorium which a lot of students are walking in to
Ruby and jaune look around while rock trys to look but he's too short so he ends up giving up and pouting
Ruby, rock, and jaune suddenly hear yangs voice saying "Ruby! Over here! I saved you a spot!"
"Oh! Hey, I-I gotta go! I'll see you after the ceremony!" she said to jaune as she left both jaune and rock behind
"well it looks like it's just you and me rock" jaune said looking at rock
Rock shook his head before walking over to ruby and yang
"How's your first day going, little sister?" yang asked ruby
"You mean since you ditched me and I exploded?" Ruby exclaimed
"Yikes! Meltdown already?" yang asked
"No, I literally exploded a hole in front of the school! And there was some fire, and I think some ice...?" ruby said while rock nodded confirming her story
"Are you being sarcastic?" yang asks smiling
"I wish! I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage, and then she yelled at me, and then I sneezed, and then I exploded, and then she yelled at me again, and I felt really, really bad, and I just wanted her to stop yelling at me!" Ruby said as rock slowly tried backing away again when he noticed weiss right next to him and ruby
"You!" weiss exclaimed scaring rock and ruby
"Oh, God, it's happening again!" Ruby screamed as she jumped onto yangs arms
"You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!" weiss started yelling as rock started shaking in fear
"Oh my God, you really exploded." yang deadpaned
"It was an accident." Ruby said as she got off of yang "It was an accident!"
Weiss grabbed a pamphlet titled "DUST for dummies and other Inadequate Individuals" and held it up to ruby
"What's this?" Ruby asked
Weiss started listing off policies going faster and higher pitched with each word "The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product. Although not mandatory, the Schnee Family highly encourages their customers to read and familiarize themselves with this easy to follow guide to Dust applications and practices in the field." weiss said making Rock's eyes spin in confusion
"Uuhhh...?" Ruby was confused as rock shook his head trying to get the dizziness out of his eyes
"You really wanna start making things up to me?" weiss questioned ruby
"Absolutely?" Ruby answered
"Read this, and don't ever speak to me again." weiss said giving ruby the pamphlet
"Look, uh, it sounds like you two just got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you start over and try to be friends, okay?" yang suggested
"Yeah! Great idea, sis!" Ruby said as rock pulled the pamphlet out of ruby's hands and started reading it
"Hello, Weiss! I'm Ruby! Wanna hang out? We can go shopping for school supplies!" Ruby said holding out her hand
"Yeah! And we can paint our nails and try on clothes and talk about cute boys, like tall, blond, and scraggly over there! Or like shorty over here" weiss said pointing at jaune and rock
"Hm?" jaune hummed at the mention of his name
"Wow, really?!" ruby asked genuinely happy that her sister's suggestion worked
"No." Weiss said with a dead silent glare
The girls' attention is drawn to the stage, where Professor Ozpin is readying the microphone, with Glynda beside him.
"I'll... keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. (as the students whisper among themselves) You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step." ozpin concluded his small speech
"You will gather in the ballroom tonight; tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed." Ms. Goodwitch said dismissing the students
"He seemed kind of... off." yang pointed out
"It's almost like he wasn't even there." Ruby said
Jaune approached weiss from the side saying "I'm a natural blond, you know!" as weiss puts her hands on her face in exasperation
Weiss walked started walking off until she was stopped by someone pulling on her skirt
She turned around expecting jaune again only to be about three feet off
She looked down to see rock holding one of the containers of dust she had dropped earlier
"umm thanks?" she said clearly confused as she grabbed the container
Rock nodded before walking toward yang and ruby

The first night at Beacon, students are splayed out in sleeping bags. Ruby, in her pajamas and with a sleeping mask around her head, is writing in a journal when Yang crashes next to her, similarly dressed. Meanwhile rock is without his armor and blue suit and only in some over sized shorts and a over sized shirt jaune allowed him to barrow
"It's like a big slumber party!" yang exclaimed
"I don't think Dad would approve of all the boys, though." Ruby said not looking up from the paper she was writing on
"I know I do!" yang purrs as she watches several muscular, shirtless guys... and Jaune, dressed in feetie pajamas, waving to her, which makes her groan before she returns her attention to Ruby "What's that?"
"A letter to the gang back at Signal. I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going." Ruby said smiling
"Aw, that's so cuuuute!" yang yells out before she gets hit by a pillow
"Shut up! I didn't get to take my friends with me to school! It's weird not knowing anyone here!" Ruby said
"What about Jaune? He's... nice! And rock! Though he is pretty quiet... Actually does he even talk?" yang asked
Ruby turned to look at rock who was right beside them the whole time
"I...Don't know... Do you?" she asked rock
Rock tried to speak but only made mouth movements without sound making him sad
"Awww... Come here!" yang said before jumping over ruby and hugging rock trying to make him feel better
"Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend. Back to one..." ruby said
"There's no such things as negative friends! You just made one friend and one enemy!" Ruby hit yang with another pillow, this time looking like a dog, to the face "Look, it's only been one day. Trust me; you've got friends all around you! You just haven't met them yet!
The two sisters notice a candle being lit nearby, and the girl in black from earlier is seen leaning against a wall, reading her book. Meanwhile rock cutely yawned making some of the near by girls coo
Yang grabs ruby by her arm and drags her off to ho talk to the girl meanwhile rock decided it was time for him to go to sleep
Rock was about to go to sleep when he noticed a small icon at the very edge of his line of sight he chose to ignore it he was way too tired so he decided to call it a night
