I sighed, the comments on Avan's last post had gone downhill ever since Harry had posted his comment. He had no right to say I shouldn't be with Avan when he had begun dating Taylor Swift. And Justin had already started dating Selena Gomez, not even three months after we broke up. So really, Harry had no right to say who I could date and who I couldn't. I was finally happy again and Avan had agreed to take our relationship slowly just to give me more time to heal.
"Are you okay?" Avan asked from beside me, we were both in his house on his bed just flicking through our phones looking at our social media pages.
"Yeah I'm fine, just had to disable my comments to stop negativity getting to me again," I said, Avan nodded
"Fair enough, some people can be rude." He said, we both knew who he was talking about but didn't say his name.
"Let's go somewhere," Avan said, looking at me with puppy dog eyes. I laughed
"Okay, where too?" I said
"Starbucks." He answered instantly. I nodded, getting my bag from the floor and putting on my shoes. I followed him outside his apartment and we headed to his car before driving to Starbucks. Once we got there I noticed Elizabeth Gillies standing outside Starbucks looking around
"Hope you don't mind, I invited our old cast-mates, all but Victoria could come today," Avan said, I nodded, I had been looking forward to seeing the guys again. But I had hoped that Avan and I would go on a date by ourselves, but since it was just coffee I didn't mind. Hoping out of Avan's car Lizzie smiled when she saw us before walking in our direction
"Kenna, Avan." She said, hugging each of us in turn. I smiled at her as she pulled away from Avan. We all walked as a group towards Starbucks until we saw Leon and Matt standing outside the building looking around for the three of us
"Hey guys, good to see ya all," Leon said, hugging me and Lizzie and doing the weird bro hug he had with Avan. Matt just smiled at the three of us and nodded
"Yeah, for sure. I mean we did see each other a few weeks ago." I spoke, Lizzie and Matt laughed
"Of course, so Starbucks?" Matt said, I looked at Avan and he nodded
"Yes, we love Starbucks." He said, putting an arm around me, making the three of them smile. I could tell that Lizzie seemed a little uneasy around the two of us but I was determined to make it right. I didn't want to lose her because I was dating her ex, I wanted to remain best friends not because we both dated Avan but because we had a strong bond on Victorious and it has remained since the show ended.
"Good, because I'm hungry." Leon said, I laughed and we followed the others around the corner to Starbucks, once inside we found a table to share between the five of us. The conversation went to jobs, I was the first one that was asked
"So? How's the career going?" Matt asked,
"Good yeah, I'm hoping to release a new album soon, and go on tour for it as well," I answered, smiling as I did so, I loved releasing new songs, especially meaningful songs as well. It also helped to know that my family was supportive of me as well, which they always were when they weren't busy. I always had my mother's support since she was my manager, at first I didn't have her as a manager but things didn't end well with her, so then my mother became my manager after my Disney days.
"How is music writing going?" Lizzie asked
"Good, sometimes not so much especially when my mind's too busy with everything that's going on, potentially losing my friendship with Harry, you know?" I spoke, the three of them nodded while Avan looked at me, yes he was my boyfriend but he supported my friendship with Harry, it had lasted longer than I thought it would considering our degrees and other things. I had been feeling so down lately, and Avan really helped me see the sunshine again. He was such a good guy to me and he made me forget about all the problems in my life. He smiled at me and grabbed my hand under the table, rubbing it gently with his finger, I smiled weakly back at him.
We ordered our drinks after a few minutes of talking and spent the rest of the afternoon just talking and catching up. It was honestly the best afternoon I'd had in a while, and it showed me that true friends really stick around after a few years and can pick off right where we left off years before.
The drive home with Avan afterward was quiet, but it allowed me to think that I was going to talk to Harry soon, to see where he stood. To see if we were still friends.
