Melody pulled into the driveway. She got out of the car and greeted her mother, who was gardening in the front yard.
“Hey Mom, I’m going to go lay down. If I’m not down before dinner come get me.”
“Of course, how was work?”
“It was slow at first but by the end of my shift I couldn’t get a break. I think Susie owes me for taking her shift.”
Melody waved to her dad as he drove by on the lawn mower before going inside. Once she was in her room she quickly changed, crawled into bed, and drifted off to sleep. What felt like as soon as she shut her eyes her cell went off. She grabbed it and was surprised to see she had been asleep for over an hour. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw it was a text from him.

Melody smiled. She usually wasn’t so sassy as he had put it. She was a quiet person. People always called her shy but she didn’t really see herself that way. She just never felt the need to be the center of attention and preferred to watch others. She was excited to see him message back almost instantly.
