There was a country
Full of hope and peace
Colonized by British
And on a day non like today
Gained it's independenceThere was a country
Happy they were
Full of love
What they didn't expect was the wrath to comeWhat the people of this country didn't expect was that the Lion of Africa would fall, fall lower than the lowest
There was a country
It listened to it's people
It put the people's rights before it's own
And in the past sixty years
All that changedThere was a country
Today the people fight for their rights
They protest, they sing, they shout
For their voices to be heard
But our president sits and laughs off his headThere was a country
Today this country has massacred it's people
Stained it's flag
Put our nation to shame and they deny it with the worst of wordsThere was a country
Until this country is cleansed
There will be war
The people with not sit
They are determined and won't stopWe shall be victims oh yes
But the day it strikes our oppressors
We shall be free
All we have to do is wait
We aren't forgotten
The day will come
And they will be a country
