OUTER BANKS, NORTH CAROLINA, a place where you either had two jobs, or two houses. Paradise on earth, but only if you were able to afford the luxury part of paradise. The island was double-sided and you either belonged with the Kooks or the Pogues. There were always the tourons that would show up for a week or two, slum with one of the groups, and then leave maybe to return the next year. But no one considered them a competing group category of the Outer Banks.

The south side, or the cut as most people called it, was the home of the Pogues. The working class of people that didn't have the pleasure of spending all their free time partying on yachts but rather cleaning up the messes that the kooks left behind. Most homes on the cut were barely livable for its residents, but it was all they could afford after working tiring shifts of two or more jobs just to afford the shack and provide three meals a day. It wasn't all bad living the Pogue life though. Although it was more of a gruesome effort to stay financially stable, you could do pretty much anything you wanted on the island with barely any wondering eyes. Being ignored and neglected was the Pogues specialty, and it really did pay off.

The rich side of the island, Figure Eight, housed the Kooks. Most of them never had to work a day in their lives and wouldn't have to, a bunch of trust fund babies at its finest. There big homes and boats seemed to make up for most of the personalities the Kooks endured.
