TW SH (i know you won't listen, i don't, that was a bit pointless)

when two words are flipped

people flip

when she says

"i like pain"

people laugh

clutching stomachs uneasily giggling

trying to figure out if the joke was funny,

or worrying

taking the easy way out,

it's funny

a joke.

she wouldn't hurt herself

however months later she returns

this time it's,

"i cause myself pain"

"i sh"

they go silent

let the awkwardness commence

changing rooms now translate to everyone staring at her

checking

looking for some residue of that pain

that she loves so

when they find it

they cringe, get scared

no.

it's not like a pretty butterfly tattoo

or what you were hoping in your mind

it's not dainty

pretty

it's a scar.

white lumps

one after the other

like a ladder.

so why when she said

"i like pain"

did you not pay attention

notice she wasn't laughing

it wasn't a joke.

it was a cry for help,

because now

she doesn't just like it

she's addicted.
