Side Story: Fairy Tales: The Wizards Eye

"There was a time where we feared for our lives, from the Grimm, the Darkness that hopes to end us. And while I fought for my home and family. My village, gained the help from an unlikely friend." - Geolu Arcadian III

There were times when friendship and companionship were hard to come by as The Grimm attacked many settlements.

But one village was able find such things from an unlikely ally. The Lone Wizard who traveled the world looking for knowledge had came about and found a single village.

Beside him a floating metal white orb with a strange blue eye. While other villages had seen the orb as cursed and chased them away this village did not.

As the protector named Geolu Arcadian III, was curious of what this Lone Wizard wanted so he let them through the wooden gates.

"I am Geolu, of the Arcadian family. What have you brought upon us Lone Wizard?" He asked, and the Wizard gave his reply.

"I am on an adventure, looking for a home for this being. It can eat anything, and it can fly, I know not what it is and hope to find out more about it."

"Then why bring it here? We have no knowledge about it, and as I look at it nothing comes to mind on what it could be." Geolu said.

"That is why I am looking for a home for it. I hope to leave it in someone's care as I go out and find out more. Surely you must." The Wizard said insisting on leaving the Orb with him.

But Geolu wasn't sure what to do, "Is there anything we get out of it? What will you give for us to take care of it."

The Wizard laughed "Why, is friendship and companionship not enough of a trade as you watch and care for this being?"

"Friendship and Companionship are not things that you can eat, nor are they things that can keep us warm at night." Geolu had said back.

"That is because they are one of the worlds most priceless things. So please, watch over it, as watches over you all."

With reluctance Geolu accepts and allows The Orb into the village, days go by as it floats around, staring at the sky, the ground, the trees.

Others wouldn't accept it, and some seemed to let it be. As for Geolu and his Family they allowed the White floating Orb with its one blue eye to stick around even with their reservations with it.

Even when their children found joy with it as they played and looked upon the orb, The Father and Mother left them be.

Everything returned to normal afterwards as they kept on living, and nothing was more normal than a Grimm attack.

As Geolu fought as hard as he could with his Greatsword in hand he slain the Grimm with all his might. Yet even he could make a mistake.

As the Grimm slashed his back he thought for sure they would kill him as he dropped to the ground, but then he found himself unhurt as he was covered in a weird Aura of white.

Coming from The Orb.

Seeing he was immune to The Grimm's attacks he grabbed his sword and fought back. Saving his village once more.

This wouldn't be the first battle the two would have together as years go by and as The Father got Older so did his companion The White Orb.

Or as his family called it, The Wizard's Eye as it watched out for him, his family, and then the Village. While it took many years, The Wizard's Eye found his place in the village.

Even going as far as to protect his son who took up the mantle as the Protector of the Village when even Geolu had gotten too old. Eventually generations of the Arcadian's would pass and The Wizard's Eye never failed his duty to protect The Village.

That was until word spread of a massive Grimm Army that was approaching, and as Geolu's Great Grandson was the current Village head he ordered it was time for the village to relocate.

Many cried for the unfairness of it all, leaving their home that they built and found peace in, none more so then the current Arcadian with his family as they gazed upon The Wizard's Eye that protected them all.

But what they found weird was The Wizard's Eye stared upon the forest where it was said that The Army would come.

Giallo Arcadian, Great Grandson to Geolu Arcadian wondered just what The Wizard's Eye was doing so he decided to try and be the first to speak to it.

"Old Wizard Eye, why do you stare so intently so out there. Don't you see The Grimm are coming from there?" Giallo asked.

Then the orb would talk.

"I can stop the Grimm." He said.

Giallo was stunned, "How exactly can you stop them? They've destroyed countless villages, how can you stop them?"

"..." He laid silent as he looked to Giallo and he gave his response. "I have helped protect this village for a long time, I have seen you all grown up into proud men and women just as Geolu wanted. So I will stop the Grimm, but I won't come back."

"What do you mean?" Giallo asked with some worry in his voice, surely he couldn't stop an entire army of Grimm he thought but The Wizard's Eye looked back to the forest.

"You take care and make your family proud, grown big and strong just like Geolu wanted. In return I'll do my part as well." The Wizard's Eye said.

"What part would you play in this?" Giallo asked as he seen his Family's companion leave.

"To protect my family, to protect my village, to protect his home." And with that said he floated away into the dark forest where he wouldn't be seen again.

But Giallo, he seen enough to realize what exactly made The Wizard's Eye so special, even more so when he sees The Twin Golden Crescent Emblem marked on his metal back.

"My Great Grandfather was right, Friendship and Companionship are not things that you can eat, nor are they things that can keep you warm at night.

But they are things that would last you a lifetime and more, allowing you to see the light in the dark in your most vulnerable moments.

It has saved my Father's father, and then his father. Just as it did so for my Mother's Mother and her mother. Like it did the Sons and Daughters of both old and new Arcadians.

And hopefully this tale would be told to the future Arcadians as The Wizard's Orb is what saved them." After all, That Army of Grimm never did show its face when the Orb disappeared.

"Of course that is the story told from one Arcadian to another, even now as it spreads to the current Arc's own Fairy Tales." Ozpin says, flipping page after page.

"But little did any of them know, That Army of Grimm wasn't after their village, No, they had something far more horrible in mind." He said as he looked at the page in his book that shown a terrible sight.

The Wizard's Eye in the middle of the page, surrounded by dark black shadows. It's once white body was slowly being covered in said shadows as very large and dark hands hovered over him on both sides.

Ozpin closed the book and sighed.

"For a time it was better for such a tale to be seen as such, a story of eternal friendship. Of course it didn't hurt any less when I realized too late and it become one of sacrifice."
