Rhaenyra's fingers began twisting her rings as she left the council to tell her about it as what had been decided for her daughter.

Many years back she had promised herself that a decision about Alyssa's marriage would not be made until she had spoken to her about it first, but Rhaenyra was desperate to try to fix the relationship between her and the queen once and for all and this was unfortunately the best way for them to do so.

But Alyssa had never been at odds with either Aegon or Aemond so it probably wouldn't be too much of a disappointment once it was said.

Soon enough, she arrived at the wooden doors that would lead to Alyssa's room where she had been told to be. She knocked once, twice, growing more and more nervous after each knock, "Come in!"

"Mother!" exclaimed Alyssa as she saw her mother walk through the door. The girl wasted no time in running up to Rhaenyra with open arms, closing them around her waist.

"My dear girl, I'm afraid I didn't come here just because I miss you, but I have very important news to tell you and I'm a little torn about whether you'll like it or not."

The girl's little smile went down while one of her brows went up in wonder. The confusion could be read by her face.

"What is it? Is something wrong?"

"No, no, my dear. Come and sit with me"

The two sat down on the couch by the fireplace where Rhaenyra tried to smile to reassure her that nothing was wrong, but she didn't know if it was Alyssa she was trying to convince or herself.

"Mother, You're worrying me"

"I'm sorry dear" Rhaenyra swallowed visibly "I was just at a council meeting, and ehm I made a pact with the queen, a marriage pact."

Alyssa nodded nonchalantly, thinking it was Jace and Helaena she meant "Between you and Prince Aegon."

Alyssa was completely still when she heard, but she was very unsure if she was mishearing or if she was actually going to marry Aegon "With Aegon?"

Rhaenyra nodded

"When?"

"Me, your father and your brothers are going to depart for dragonstone soon, after the inside that happened in the training yard this morning we decided it would be best that way. Then, when you're grown up, come back here for your wedding with Aegon."

She stared at her mother, baffeled She stared at her mother, baffled. But she still tried to think positively about the situation, defensively it could have been worse, she could have married an old lord who wanted nothing to do with her.

"You should make your preparations, we'll leave soon for dragonstone." Alyssa simply nodded, and in response Rhaenyra pulls her into a hug again, but this time she doesn't let go for quite some time.

They sit like that for a few minutes, at least she didn't have to leave her here alone with them.

She took it at least well, unlike what the older prince had done away in his own room where Queen Alicent informed him of the wedding.

"Marry who now?!"

Alicent pinched the bridge of her nose, why was this boy so difficult? She asked herself. The biggest mystery she could come up with was that he sounded so against it when she knew that deep down he cared about her. He did, didn't he?

"You will marry Princess Alyssa Velaryon in six years. Do I need to draw it to you as well?"

Aegon groaned dramatically as if his life was over, as if someone was sending him to a death.
