April 27
The Land of Wind
(Gloomcliff)

East of Avolire castle was the city of Gloomcliff, one of the largest and warmest cities in the Land of Wind. Gloomcliff was bordered with tall mountains that would sometimes collect snow during the winter. The city was lively, far from gloomy and the best city in the Land of Wind to visit during the summer. And at the center rested the Everett Estate, where the Lord of the east and his immediate and extended family resided.

Gilbert had come to discuss details about the upcoming coronation with his father, Gerald Everett the current Lord of House Everett, and was just about finished.

They sat at a round table in the garden of the estate seated across from one another. Gerald Everett was a sixty seven year old man. He had black hair littered with a few gray strands and his eyes... were once those of an Everett's, but they were gone now and replaced with forever closed eyelids.

"How is our young king?" The eyeless man asked his son. "Has he found the one that's to become his Royal Knight?"

"Possibly?" Gilbert answered, unsurely. "I was notified that he had chosen Lucas Sitorious to become his knight, but I suspect that he didn't make that decision himself." Gilbert explained. Though Gerald didn't show it, he was overcome with displeasure. He had suspected Joseph had something to do with it. Gerald has known Joseph for a long time, most of his life and knew he was not to be trusted when it came to certain things such as this, he was clearly up to something the eyeless man thought.

"The coronation hasn't happened yet, which means the one he's chosen isn't officially his knight yet." Gerald stated.

"I suppose you're right." Gilbert confirmed.

"Well then, allow me to present to you my chosen contender." Gerald said as he waved over a nearby servant. "Retrieve him." He told the servant who quickly left and returned guiding a young boy through the garden. Once at the table the boy stopped and the servant excused themselves.

"Lord Gerald, Lord Gilbert." The boy greeted, bowing his head. "My name is Julian Everett." He introduced himself and Gilbert recognized him as one of his cousins. He had black hair and bright violet eyes.

"I think Julian would be the perfect knight for our king. They may be the same age, but Julian is skilled at using the Everett technique and is more then ready to serve as a Royal Knight." Gerald explained.

"The Everett technique." Gilbert repeated as his eyes examined his cousin's expressionless face. The Everett technique was a secret technique that allowed the user to materialize their mana into anything they've touch. Only Everetts are taught this technique but if a magic user that's not an Everett attempted this technique it wouldn't work unless they're really skilled or have high mana reserves. Even then the technique wouldn't be as effective as it would be if the user was an Everett.

Gilbert was surprised considering the fact that it had took him years to master the Everett technique and the boy mastered it at the age of six.

"We must set a date for them to meet before the coronation." Gerald spoke.

"I'll speak with him." Gilbert replied as he rose from his seat at the table and went to take his leave. Once Gilbert was gone, Gerald turned to Julian who was waiting for him to speak.

"When you meet with him you will persuade him to choose you as his knight." Gerald ordered. "No matter what." Gerald needed Julian as the young king's knight because if not, Joseph was going to have his way.
