And great suspect the Queen did know
When work of king she did behold
And saw him go inside the night
To hedges made for brief respite.

And gossip grew inside their court
That king with maid had made his sport
And regal anger grew obscene
At humbled head of haughty queen

Of all the things that men be warned
Beware the wrath of woman scorned.
But lo not act at time she'd do
Instead she paused and thing construed.

And Rosamund in midst of maze
In arms of king at present laid
There hid by ploy they thought too fair
For any man to ever dare

And Henry deemed her all his prize
His queen then crowned by lovestruck eyes.
And many days in waste they stayed
In grassy meadow made for play.

Not caring act their joy would take
This woe ordained by both their fates
And spell there wove for world the worse
By magic wrought as ancient curse.

And Queen then subtle waits to see
As husband far from castle leaves
Then goes to pane his sign to light
To bid his love yet come in night

And meet the man inside the maze
As many times before he bayed.
And Rosamund then willing went
On task she thought her lover sent

Inside the maze to midst she goes
Unto the waifs own dreaded woe.
Then all the servants gathered well
By queenly will their vows inspell

And torches take a blaze to light
Of hedges made to hide from sight
The secret love the pair had made
Inside their little man-made glade.

And Rosamund though knowing way
She tread the lover's secret maze
By panic give and dark of night
Along with very mortal fright

Forgot the path her feet would wind
When back from love to castle bind
The waif did go to hide affair
The pair had made inside this lair.

So all the country side did gleam
And long and wide the blaze was seen.
And Henry far abroad though gave
Did know the sight of burning maze.

And many years of bitter feud
This act betwixt the pair imbued
And England knew an age of strife
Then waged betwixt a man and wife...
