Manjhi and Falguni

It came that Falguni who'd gone
To work her chores for hours drawn
Did stay yet even past the time
Protracted task would normal bind

Till one that woman called her man
Became himself concerned at span
Of time that passed since wife did leave
And if she any harm received.

So Manjhi went the way she took
With lantern lit for wife to look
And found her fallen down the way
From top of ledge on which it's paved.

And back to home did Manjhi go
With pace that's swift for one who towed
The weight of person arms then held
Unto the place they both had dwelled.

And kin he called to overlook
His bride while man the journey took
Around the mount to help receive,
And doctor quick from place retrieve.

So man then went in all his haste
And on to city quickly raced
With little rest along the way
For sake of wife in bed now laid

Until a doctors found at last
Whose knowledge learned was up to task
Of healing wife then gravely ill
Was gained to journey far fulfill.

So hasty sped the pair those days
Around the mount that blocked the way
Onto his bride but haste was vain
For end of life already came.

And all that joy his days had graced
For not but time he's forced to waste
Was took away. A callous fact
On which he had no way to act...
