"I'd rather have her dead than alive,"

Mikasa couldn't mask his shock when he heard Akari's own sister, wants her dead. And based from his observations of how skillfully she handled his injury, he couldn't help but ask.

"Just from looking at your movements, you're in the medical field. Why does someone whose supposed to save lives, want someone dead. More intriguing, her sister?" He squinted his eyes at her, watching as she didn't flinch at his sudden jab.

She kept silent. He was about to push her more to the edge when she started to explain.

"It's because of my parents, that I want her dead. I've tried to use my knowledge on medicine to end her, but that would mean my lisense would be revoked and I'd go to jail either for murder or attempted."

"Sibling rivalry?"

"None of the sort, more on them thinking she's a queen. No ill feelings were between us when we were young but at middle school, she showed her true self. I've seen it happen once or twice when we were younger but I didn't know much back then."

Mikasa looked down, knotting his brows when the cruise suddenly rocked like it was in a storm. Unfortunately, they seem to have hit a storm unknowingly and Sana couldn't help but duck her head, accidentally tugging on the needle and causing him to wince.

"H-hey, that hurt…!"

"Sorry…"

Her eyes were contracted, then immediately dilated when she saw Ran at the railing of the cruise. Mikasa saw how her eyes shook, turning his head before feeling his throat get clogged.

"Hurry up and stitch me," She wasn't moving, her fingers playing with the suture. "Hey,"

"Why should I? I won't be held accountable for it,"

"Look, I know you want her gone, hut just please hurry and stitch me up." Mikasa was starting to sound desperate. And it was either because he still had an ounce of affection, or maybe because he wanted something different.

He looked straight into Sana's eyes, he can see her pupils shaking. But her face says otherwise, she wasn't going to grovel easily.

"Give me a reason,"

Her voice was silent, whilst his was loud and condescending. Her eyes steadily watching Ran carrying her sister over the edge, how she was clutching for dear life on his shoulders.

"Why I shouldn't throw you over board…"

"Why I should keep her alive…"

"Because I love you…!" They heard Akari shamelessly, desperately cried out. Her voice was crooked and ruined from the screams she exhibited.

They all knew her words were empty, and their eyes hardened.

"We all know that's a lie…" He threw her, a smirk on his lips, waving his hand over her head.

A loud splash was heard. "So, let's give her that high horse she deserves."

;;;;

"How are you feeling?" He looked at the conscious woman, her eyes were dilated when she opened her lids. He stated blankly at her sitting silent on the hospital bed, both her legs wrapped up and hung.

"Where am I…?" Her voice was groggy, cracked and silent. She looked across the sanitized room, turning her head to look at Mikasa.

Their eyes connected, his filled with nothing while hers were filled with shock. She couldn't believe it, seeing him by her side with bandages covering almost half his face. Did he save her?

Akari couldn't help but give him a small smile. She lifted her body, wincing in pain before flopping down on the mattress.

"Don't be too hard on yourself, you just woke up." His voice was soothing to the ears, soft like clouds, caring like serenity. She wanted to bathe in his care and affection but just the way his eyes stared blankly at her, hindered her from doing so.

"What happened…?"

After fixing her position to a more comfortable sitting, Mikasa didn't hesitate with his answer.

"I'm sorry, I was rather useless in fending Ran off," He lowered his eyes, biting his lip and inhaling a deep breath. "Unfortunately, the doctor said you've lost mobility…," He slowly moved his irises to her bandaged leg, her eyes following suit.

"…What…?"

She couldn't believe what she was seeing, she couldn't walk anymore.

Mikasa watched her movements, seeing her lift her arm up as she tried to reach over to her immobile limbs. He can see the horror written on her face, the terrified look that she had.

It fueled him up more.

He can feel his veins pop under his skin, his resistance was almost immaculate. How he wanted to just take the scalpel on the tray beside the bed and drive it deep in her throat. Unfortunately, he need to wait.

'The time will come. Just be patient,'

He inched closer, wrapping his arms around her neck, placing her face on his chest. His lips fanning air into her ear.

"It's okay, I'm here. I'll make sure to help you get back on your feet." He can feel her slowly wrap her arms around him.

"Promise…?"

He stared blankly, his eyes glaring over the horizon.

"I promise…"

"I love you, Mika…"

"…I love you, too."

'To give you what you truly deserve: an end better than drowning…'
