Emma and Paul were lying on the couch in the Cullen's living room. Paul's shoulders were propped against the arm rest and Emma lay between his legs, resting her head on his chest. "Guess normal was just too boring for this town, huh?" Paul brought up as Emma played with his fingers in her hands. "Tell me about it." Emma groaned as she closed her eyes. "How bad is this fight going to be?" Paul brought up the threat at hand. "Truth?" Emma opened her eyes and turned her head so that she could look into her mate's eyes. "Truth." Paul gave a small nod, worry in his eyes. "The Volturi are as cocky as they are powerful. They possess special abilities that give them weapons beyond understanding. Nobody has gone against the Volturi and lived to tell the tale. Our family has gotten in trouble with them before, for allowing Bella to know our secret and remain human. Aro, the most powerful leader of the three, has a soft spot for Carlisle, he ruled with them a long time ago. He's taken a liking to Alice as well; I can only guess that is why she left. If Alice found it necessary to leave without telling us, I'm guessing the odds are not in our favor." Emma frowned as she explained the depth of the situation.

"They're after Renesmee?" Paul wanted to know everything there was to know. "Our cousin from the Denali Coven, our allied family for years, she saw Renesmee playing in the snow and thought she was an immortal child." Emma began explaining more of the background. "An immortal child isn't like Renesmee and I; they are born fully human and changed before they hit puberty. Their brains stop developing like the rest of their body, they are unable to be taught and their impulse is out of control. They can destroy an entire village in minutes, the Volturi have spread word that any immortal child is too dangerous to live and will be killed." Emma finished off explaining the details of the event that triggered it all. "So, the Volturi don't know of your existence?" Paul was confused why the assumption was made about Renesmee when Emma's story was similar to the young girl's. "My mother kept me hidden from everyone until we met Emmett. Now that my aging has stopped, we play it off as if I was turned at 18 and that my human-like complexion is an ability related to my previous personality." Emma explained how they kept her existence a secret. "And now? If it comes down to saving Renesmee, would your family reveal your secret?" Paul worried about the life of his own imprint. "I thought about it, I don't know how my mother feels; but if it came down to life or death, it may be our last option." Emma let out a saddened sigh, praying the testimonies of their friends would be enough. Paul nodded, remaining silent, and wrapped his arms around Emma tighter.

The Denali Coven were the first to arrive back at the Cullen home, they had arrived late in the night while Paul had been asleep. The Egyptian coven arrived soon after that and it wouldn't be long until more Covens began to emerge. Edward, Bella, and Renesmee returned soon after the Denali coven and Emma watched as Renesmee shared her story with their friends. Paul stood guarded behind Emma, his genetics putting him on high alert. Benjamin, an element wielder from Egypt, was knelt down to Renesmee's height, holding her hand that laid on his cheek as she shared how she was born. Benjamin smiled at the young girl before deciding to show her his gift as well. The man gently guided her hand off his cheek, manipulating the dirt and air around him to make a small tornado in the young girl's hand. Even Paul looked at the man in amazement as the pair released the small wind tunnel into the air. "Benjamin can influence the elements." Edward voiced the scene to the small group, Bella on his arm. "And here I get super self-control." Bella dismissed the use of her gift in comparison to the others'. Paul let out a low growl as the supernaturals picked up on the arrival of more vampires, ones who were coming in fast. Both Paul and Jacob were ready to attack but Edward gave a hand to show they meant no harm. "Who are they?" Bella questioned her husband. "Senna and Zafrina from the Amazon." Edward introduced the two tanned women who set on their eyes on the two shifters. Bella moved to Renesmee, motioning for her daughter to join her side. Renesmee left Bejamin's side and walked with her parents to witness to the women. The Amazon women were unexpected, which meant word of Renesmee's birth was traveling fast.
