As Dusk and Haze flew into the Scorpion Den, their disappearance was discovered.

"I hope they're alright." Cypress said worriedly. Shore nodded in agreement. Boysen paced the floor, his eyebrows furrowed in concern.

"What if they're not?" he asked. "What if something horrible happened to Ha- to them? We should go after them."

"Great idea, Boysen." Ember noted sarcastically. "And where exactly are we going? Because, in case you forgot, we have no idea where they are."

"Thank you so much for that observation, sergeant sarcasm." Orange shot back.

"Indeed, comrade comeback." Shore added.

Meanwhile....

Dusk and Haze had been missing for a few days. It was time, Starflight decided, to notify their families.

"Hey Firefly," he said ruefully, reluctant to be the one delivering this news. Sunny had insisted that Firefly would take the news better from him, though.

"What happened?" Firefly questioned immediately. If she was getting dreamvisited, then something was dangerously wrong.

"Dusk is missing." Starflight admitted. "He just up and vanished a few days ago." Firefly looked at him worriedly. Dusk was gone?

"Do you know where he went?" Starflight shook his head.

"The only clue we have is a bunch of scrolls that he left on his bed. They were all about Sandwing gangs, if that means anything to you." Firefly's eyes widened. No. He wouldn't....would he? She knew that Dusk was curious, but surely he wouldn't go that far to find out more.

"I know where he is." she whispered. Panic was slowly rising in her. If they would kill her just for being with Coal..... what would they do if his son showed up at their door?

*~*~*~*~*

"You are an imbecile." Haze declared as she and Dusk entered the Scorpion Den. Dusk rolled his eyes.

"Have you spent the last three hours trying to think of more synonyms?" he questioned.

"No, I've spent the last three hours pondering a way to survive."

"And?"

"And we're the luckiest dragons in the universe if we even make it to the address."

"Well, aren't you just a little ray of sunshine."

"Boysen seems to think so."

"Boysen is in love with you, and too intelligent to recognize it."

"....That's not such a bad thing." Haze eyed her companion curiously.

"Why are you doing this anyway?" she asked.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean this seems like a long way to go to try and find out something about your father." Dusk paused.

"I don't know," he admitted. "I just feel like there's a piece of the puzzle missing, and if I do this, I'll find it." Haze fell silent.

"I know that feeling all too well." she said quietly. "Although I never know what to do to find the puzzle pieces."

*~*~*~*~*

"Qibli, we have a situation." Coal announced as he burst into the Sandwing's room. Qibli frowned.

"What is it?"

"My son and another dragonet have run off to the Scorpion Den." he explained. "I think they're going after my brothers." Qibli's eyes widened. "And if they find my brothers..."

"Then they find my family too."

"And then, there's no telling what will happen to them."

"Except that there's a low chance of survival."

"We have to go after them." Qibli grabbed a knife from a nearby table.

"Alright," he agreed. "Let's go."
