My eyes start to twitch. I squint. All that I see is the dark. I close my eyes, relishing in the peace. After what seems like a few minutes I start to open my eyes, until they are fully open I stare into the dark, only a yellow light shining through a frosted window. I start to feel faint. I close my eyes for a bit. Feeling a nice warm feeling going on my back. Quickly my eyes fly open. As I realise that water is on my back. I turn around and look up to see a shower head. Oh. I look down at my soaking clothes. How long have a been here? I start to get up, a stinging sensation appears on my left arm. I look at it. Looks normal. Until I feel it again. I turn my arm over and see the bright red marks going up all the way until the crease of my elbow.

The razor. I remember. I get up out of the shower and take off my soaked clothes and realise the blood stains on them. I roll the clothes into a ball, ready for me to throw away straight into the bin outside. It's night out now. My Mam always goes to see her best friend Kiera after work on Tuesdays. Kiera's amazing. I love her to bits. She was there for me when my mother had to stay in the hospital for a month. She looked after me. We had a lot of fun together going on cinema trips and the funfair. Sometimes we went on road trips. We always filmed everything we did and showed it to my Mam when we came back to the hospital to visit her. My mam loved the videos. She always begged us to film more even though we had about two hours of footage. Kiera and my mam met in college. Kiera studied Veterinary. She now works at the local vet. I used to help out feeding the animals. I love animals but my mam won't let me get anything. Not even a hamster.

When I'm finally in my dressing gown I run outside and throw the clothes into the bin. When I go back inside I head straight to my room and get ready for bed. My head feeling a little dizzy,I lie down under the duvet. I turn off my lamp on my nightstand. The light from the moon surrounds my room. Just enough for me to see my wrist. I inspect it as if it's not really apart of me.

I reach out and touch it and immediately regret it as it stings more. I stare at my wrist fascinated by the lines I have created but also a feeling of disgust overcomes me.

Eventually, I give in to the sleep welcoming me.

I wake up to the sound of the alarm ridding me of my dreams. I walk down the stairs and I spot my Mam from the hallway cooking in the kitchen. I walk in and a sweet smell fills the air around me.

As I'm about to ask what she's making, she flips a pancake into the air, already answering my question. I then spot the many toppings that could go onto the pancake on the white wooden table that is situated against the wall opposite the island. I spot Nutella and instantly my stomach lets out a growl. My Mam whips around to the sound.

"Oh, hey honey I thought there was a dog in here." she laughs. After her laughing has calmed she continues. "There's a stack of pancakes on the table."

I turn around and sit into the chair and grab the plate of pancakes closer to me. I grab the Nutella and start spreading an excessive amount of the chocolate spread on the pancakes.

"Why did you decide to make pancakes?" I ask.

"I'm happy."

I smile.

"You want to tell me why you came home before the end of the school day."

My smiles fades. I stuff my face with the pancakes. After a stretched out silence my mam turns around with a spatula in the air to witness my face stuffed. She shakes her head and resumes with her pancakes. I inwardly sigh of relief.

As I finish my pancakes I run upstairs and throw on an oversized hoodie and black baggy tracksuit bottoms. I slip on my runners and head off to school, deciding to walk.

As I arrive at school I spot Maddy straight away, her back turned towards me. I debate on whether I should go and explain to her or not. She didn't try and call me yesterday, no texts, nothing.

With that information, I decide to not talk to her, for the morning at least.

I walk down the hallway and spot Maddy heading the opposite way, towards me. I expected her to come over and talk to me but instead, she looks me up and down and walks past me. In that split second, I felt like a bug. Just an inconvenience.

I flop onto my bed after a long day of dodging people I knew and going through the worst classes, I put in my earphones and turn on some music. I start listening to Set Fire To The Rain and suddenly I'm overwhelmed with the memories of Haley and I, in her living room, belting our small voices to this song. We were about ten maybe. I went to her house all the time, that was when she lived in the estate right next to mine. I just had to jump over my garden wall and I would be in her garden. Our back doors acting like the front doors for us. We would visit each other every day. Eat dinner at each other's houses have sleepovers. Those times were the best. When there were no worries and no responsibilities. The only thing we were scared of was missing the ice cream man.

I lose myself in the music and listen to every word sung. I pick out what instruments I hear. But then I hear a soft yelling. I take out my earphone and hear my Mam calling me to come downstairs. I hop off the bed and as I descend the stairs I hear voices.

"I'm your new neighbour." someone says. "I'm Jax Romano."

Oh shit.

---------------------

That was probably the most predictable ending but it wouldn't be a wattpad book if I didn't have a hot fake boyfriend as the new neighbour.

I feel like this book is very different from the books that are on here.

Do you enjoy it?

Or is it too boring?

Too short?

Too long?

Let me know.
