Before you start reading, I'd like to explain something that is quite important to the following chapters!
Eret's beard, is not a beard. I know, that doesn't sound important, just hear me out. It's a tattoo. After looking through tons of pictures and clips from HTTYD 2, I realized that all of the dragon trappers had similar chin markings.

And we can just barely see the gray vertical lines on this guy.
On top of that, these men all have different colors of hair; blonde, brown, black. But all the same color "beard."
Now, I say this is important because it plays a huge part in my story. These men were all tattooed as a show of allegiance and devotion to the dragon trapping life.
However, this is all just a theory of mine. I've done tons of research and can't seem to find solid proof of what exactly Eret's "beard" is supposed to be. That being said, whether my theory is correct or not, for this story they are tattoos.
