When The City Sleeps

14 5 3

I wake up,
Just as the city falls asleep.
I enjoy the sweet silence,
As it is the only time I can feel my thoughts settle at the bottom of my mind.
The air is more cleaner and cooler,
It soothes my constricted lungs to relax.
The solitude feels wondrous
It fills me with ecstasy.
This is also the only time that the shy stars came out of hiding,
They shine and twinkle as I converse with them.
The stars are the bare all my secrets,
And store them in the moon's icy core.
How I love it when the city sleeps.
It's so blissfully peaceful;
And it's the only time I can ever be myself.
