I was startled by someone tapping me on the shoulder. I turned around to see Aiden.

"Are you alright now?" He asked.

"Yes, I'm much better," I replied, giving him a small smile.

"That's good," he smiled back at me. "Would you like to grab some dinner with me?"

"Sure," I smiled. "I'll just text my brother to tell him I'll be home later."

"How old is he?" Aiden asked.

"He's in year 12 now," I answered, typing on my phone. "But mum and dad are often busy working and they get home late so Lachlan relies on me to cook dinner. He's really lazy."

"Lachlan?" Aiden was distracted. "That name sounds familiar."

"There are lots of Lachlan's," I shrugged. "Are you coming?"

He caught up to me and led me to a restaurant up the road from the university.

We sat down and looked through the menus.

"So this girl that you were dating?" I asked. "Tell me about her."

"Um," he ran his hands through his hair frustrated. "She wasn't perfect, but she was good enough for me." I dropped the menu and looked at him. "She was sweet and innocent. She had auburn hair. She was gorgeous but it felt like I was the only one who realised it. My friends would often pick on her and her friend."

"Her friend?" I asked.

"Yeah, they were very close," he sighed. "He treated her like his sister. At least that's what it looked like. The girl, she used to always call her little brother Squirt."

I laughed. I remembered when I used to call Lachlan Squirt. He hated it and would always pout.

"She got annoyed at him because he was so nosy," he chuckled.

"Sounds exactly like my brother," I laughed. "He was always poking his nose into my business."

"I wish I could remember his name," he rubbed his temples. "He was such a great kid. Although he was annoying, he was great, just like her. But she was better."

"You really miss her don't you?" I asked.

"Of course I do," he exclaimed. "She changed my life. She made me so much better."

"Don't give up on her," I sighed. "She seems like someone that's worth chasing."

"Never have I thought of giving up," he shrugged. "She's special."

I looked at him in aw. The way he talked about the girl he lost was beautiful. I felt terrible for being so rude to him at first.
