ESTE HADN'T WANTED TO HELP out with the Biology field trip, not in the slightest. She wasn't a very science forward person. She respected the importance of it but was very opposite with Carlisle in her skill. She had never been very good at science when she'd decided to study it back in the 1940's.

However Mr Banner was one of the only teachers who respected her and Este felt he deserved this favour. There were few teachers at Forks high school and the others had claimed they were busy. None of them were very interested in a day trip learning about composting.

She'd been reluctant but eventually she'd agreed to come along. They only needed two teachers for the classes anyway. There would be two junior classes going. One of which was the class containing Bella and Edward, the other hosted Alice and Jasper. At least Este would have people to talk to.

Este simply hoped she wasn't expected to have a clue what was going on, the students would have a better understanding than her. Seventy years was a long time and she couldn't remember a time she'd picked up a science book since then.

They'd had to leave the school earlier, the dull grey clouds grew steadily lighter and left no room for a picturesque sunrise. They mellowed above, causal and uncaring. Este walked out the front of the school with a brown satchel bag over one shoulder. She wasn't sure what she'd need on this field trip. Este had been working at the high school for a year and a half but still she hadn't yet been on a field trip. The school budget often didn't allow for this.

She was slightly intrigued towards the logistics of it all but not enough to be excited to get going. One thing she was glad about was the idea that she could watch over Edward and Bella. She'd been truthful in saying she was giving Edward his privacy and this hadn't changed. However she was well aware how clueless Edward could be at times. This went for his response to Bella's questions being that no one would believe her. Este wanted to make sure that Bella didn't become any more curious than she needed to be.

Este was greeted with two bright yellow school buses as she stepped outside. The kids were standing around, some getting on the buses straight away to get the back seats or a window, others loitered around evidently uninterested.

"I need your permission slips!" Mr Banner was yelling, waving the ones he'd already collected over his head, "ah Este- I mean Mrs Cullen, you're here"

"I said I'd come" Este smiled, "do you need any help getting the slips or should I just get on the bus"

"Feel free to get a seat" Mr Banner smiled.

Este turned to see Edward, Alice and Jasper get on the yellow bus at the back. She followed, becoming aware that Mike Newton was trying and failing to ask out Bella over by her old, orange truck. Bella's eyes weren't on Mike, they were instead following Edward.

She ignored Bella, walking towards the bus and climbing the stairs onto it. The bus was compact with white metal walls and ugly fabric seats. The seats looked as though they were teaming in dust, burgundy and covered in weird patterns that looked like the shapes Este would see when she shut her eyes hard enough.
