Donghyuck slowly opened his heavy eyelids as he gained back his consciousness, the sunlight peering through the window of his room. The throbbing pain in his head never disappeared.

He squinted his eyes as his nose scrunched due to the harsh sunlight. He shifted uncomfortably on his bed, not noticing that someone had entered the quiet room

"Hyuck" A voice echoed, making the weak boy turn his head and look at the owner of the voice. "Are you okay?" The anxious boy who just entered asked

"No" Donghyuck plainly responded, his fist gripping onto his hair. "What happened, hyung?" Donghyuck asked. Renjun stared at the boy, letting out a sigh before walking towards the bed, a worried expression taking over his features.

"You passed out last night." He'd say, seriousness mixed within his tone.

Donghyuck's brows crossed, quite confused at his response. As he was about to open his mouth to speak, he felt a slight tug on his finger, making him turn his head to the side, peering at the silky red string through his long lashes.

"What is this?" He referred to the string which was laced around his pinky finger firmly. "The other end of that string is attached to your soulmate." The older one answered, slowly sitting down on the edge of the bed, facing the confused boy.

"Soulmate? What do you-"

"You're starting to lose your memories, hyuck" He muttered under his breath, trimming the younger boy off.

Donghyuck was taken aback at his declaration as his mouth fell agape. He had a doubtful expression across his face

"What?"

Renjun's face pulled into a frown whilst reading the expression written all over his face.

"I'm hoping that you'll be able to remember and answer my question."

"What is it, hyung?"

"Where have you been before the incident?"

Donghyuck's brows furrowed as he trailed his eyes to the window, thinking deeply for an answer

"I-I... don't remember." He breathed out and closed his eyes, disappointed at himself.

Renjun sighed deeply, thinking of possible ways to find his soulmate. "Can you follow the string and find her?" Donghyuck asked, his voice was deep and raspy

"We can't, it'll eventually disappear from our sight as we get further away from you," The older said.

Donghyuck's shoulders dropped the moment he heard his response, inhaling air as he closed his eyes

"I couldn't remember who she is."
