As we speed towards my parents' home in the midst of the looming disaster, the atmosphere in the car was fraught with tension. The city is rapidly descending into chaos, and the streets are filled with signs of the impending apocalypse. Abandoned vehicles, shattered windows, and hordes of panicked people fleeing in all directions paints a picture of an unfolding nightmare.

Thomas grips the steering wheel with determination, weaving through the growing pandemonium as I gaze out the window in horror. The virus, the creation I had a hand in, was causing this mayhem. I feel overwhelming guilt for my role in bringing this catastrophe to life.

The infected, with their twisted and frenzied expressions, are emerging from alleys and buildings, giving chase to anyone in their path. Their relentless pursuit and unending aggression are a stark testament to the uncontrollable nature of 'Light.' The realization that this horror is a result of my creation is a weight I can barely bear.

I couldn't help but think about the potential devastation 'Light', would cause on a global scale. My scientific curiosity has led me down this perilous path, and now the consequences are horrifyingly evident. I play a part in releasing this nightmare upon the world, and it is a burden I would carry forever.

We continue our harrowing journey through the city, I couldn't help but be overwhelmed by the surreal and gruesome scene unfolding around us. The infected individuals exhibited erratic, inhuman behavior, moving with an eerie and uncoordinated gait. It was as if some primal instinct had taken over, leaving behind only a shell of their former selves.

A chilling realization washes over me as I observe one of them up close through the car window. The disheveled figure, dressed in tattered clothing, exhibited signs of extreme aggression. The infected people move erratically like they have lost all control, and it feels like something out of a horror story. It is a nightmarish sight, and I couldn't help but draw parallels to the mythological concept of zombies, a word that has always been confined to works of fiction.

My fascination with this sight turned into fear when I saw one of them attacking an innocent person. The victim's screams fills the air as they try to defend themselves, and it is a terrifying reminder of the danger we are in. The guilt I feel for my role in this disaster was mixed with a deep sense of fear as I realize the challenges we face in trying to escape this terrifying situation.

"Holy shit," Thomas muttered, his voice trembling with disbelief as he continues to navigate the chaotic streets.

I sit, paralyzed with terror, unable to look away from the violent scene unfolding outside the car window.I glance at another infected person, locking eyes with the creature, but there's no humanity left in those vacant orbs. The person who once inhabited that body is gone, replaced by something grotesque. It staggers toward us, the ragged remnants of clothing flapping as it runs, emitting eerie, guttural moans that chill me to the bone.

Thomas's grip on the steering wheel tightens as I panic, urging him to put distance between us and this horrific scene. He accelerates, and we leave the nightmare behind, heading straight for my parents' home.

on this street there is quiet, not yet affected by the terrible things.

Upon our arrival, my entire close-knit family gathers. My parents, Zane, and little Joel are there, along with my aunt June, her husband Lucas, and their son Noah. We're all reunited, but the grim reality of the world outside hangs over us, casting a somber shadow on the heartfelt reunion.

Zane pulls me aside, his eyes filled with a mix of concern and confusion. "How on earth did this happen, Jane?" he questions, searching for answers amid the chaos. His gaze shifts momentarily to Mike, and there's a glare of suspicion, which I had momentarily overlooked in my shock. As I glance over my shoulder to check on Mike, I find Thomas, too, staring him down with a silent question in his eyes. The unspoken tension lingers in the air.
