Chapter 15

I made my way up the steps, and I saw that his parents were sitting at the table. It looked like they were waiting for me.

“Hello Dear, come sit down.” Mrs. Grant said.

Oh crap, this was bad wasn’t it? I took my seat across the table from the parents, and next to Will.

“Since break is coming up, we will be going to California, and since we know that you are alone, we want you to come with us.” Mr. Grant said.

I let out a sigh of relief. They just wanted me to go on vacation. It sounded great actually.

“I would love to!” I replied excited.

“We will pay for the costs and everything.” Mrs. Grant said.

My smile dropped. There was no way I was going to let them pay for me.

“No, it’s ok.” I said while shaking my head.

“But we insist.” Mr. Grant said.

“I’ll only go, as long as I pay for myself.” I said with a satisfied smile on my face. I knew that they wanted me to go, so they would have to let me pay.

The parents sighed. “Fine Dear.” Mrs. Grant said, “But we will take you to a nice dinner, and we will pay. Oh, and we also pay for the room, we already booked it. Deal?”

“Deal.” I replied while shaking her hand.

“Yay! Skylar’s coming.” Vicky yelled as she ran into the room. I laughed. She was just too cute.

“So when do we leave, so I can buy my ticket?” I asked.

“We leave Friday night, and we come back the following Sunday. We are going to San Francisco.” Will said.

I squealed. They looked at me funny. “Sorry, I just always wanted to go there.” I said as I blushed.

Will chuckled. “Well, let’s go book your flight then.”

We went to my house, and I grabbed my parents “emergency” credit card.

The following days went by in a blur. I was so excited for the trip. The softball team draft was posted, and as I figured, Tay and I made the team, as well as the girls from the previous year.

I was the starting pitcher for the varsity team, and Tay was starting short stop. Practices would begin as soon as we all got back from break.

On Thursday night, Taylor came over to help me pick out my clothes for California.

“You need sundresses, flip-flops, bikinis, sunglasses, undies, shorts, shirts, and of course, pjs! Oh, plus you need bathroom stuff like toothpaste, toothbrush, brush, straightener, curler, and makeup.” Taylor squealed.

I grabbed two suitcases, plus a carryon. I put a few books and my laptop in my carryon. Taylor rolled her eyes when she saw the books, but I just shrugged. I loved to read.

Then, I put all my bathroom stuff into a suitcase with my underwear, bras, shorts, and shirts. In the next bag, I put all the remaining stuff on Taylor’s list in. I also threw in one of Michael’s old baseball hats. I always loved wearing them in the summer.

“I think you’re all set.” Taylor said as she inspected my clothes. “You lucky bitch, I wanna go so badly. I bet you can’t wait to be alone with Will.”

I laughed. “Well, that is an upside.”

At school the next day, I knew I wasn’t going to get any homework because it was the last day before a big break. All my classes went by smoothly.

At lunch time though, we were all sitting at the table when Amber and her skanks came towards us. I sighed. Amber hopped right into Will’s lap. I couldn’t help the pang of jealousy in my heart.

“Hey there Sexy. Wanna hang out at my house over break?” she purred. I laughed at her desperateness. She turned around a shot me a death glare, which made me laugh harder.

“Sorry, but no. I’m actually going away. So get off my lap.” Will said while not even glancing at her. She looked so shocked that she was shot down again. The whole table started laughing. Her face turned beet red.

“You like that bitch, don’t you? Well, she is clingy, ugly, and a whore.” She smirked in my direction.

Will pushed her off his lap and was about to yell at her, probably because she insulted me, but I stopped him.

“Whatever. You can say what you want. Just so you know, I don’t care. Words don’t hurt me, ok? So leave, Will doesn’t want you.” I said coolly.

She turned and walked away furiously.

“Wow, I thought you would have kicked her ass.” Matt said.

“I just want a drama free day before I go on the best vacation ever.” I said while smiling at Will.
