Cole's POV

My heart beat became louder with every step I took closer to the house I was about to break into. I forgot how powerful these trips had made me feel. No one could stop me, get in my way, or tell me what to do.

I pulled the black mask over my face as I reached the little blue house on the corner. An adorable place to live. The lights were off, no one was awake. From the information we had Zac and I knew that this is where Emily lived before we took her.

Katie was inside somewhere. Along with her two parents, hopefully we wouldn't have a problem with them.

Out of all the years I watched my dad take women and the years I participated in the missions...we've never taken them while sleeping or from a house. Always at a public location. This was new yet I could feel my old self slipping right back into the mindset of this game.

Zac and I made it to the front of the house and both nodded to go around back. We took different directions. As we reach the backyard we noticed a light on the 2nd story, this was a window we couldn't see from the front of the house.

"Shit." Zac sighed. "Someones awake."

"Maybe." I swallowed. Do I want to be doing this? Yes, of course I do. It was a mistake to think I could somehow make my mother proud by being the good guy. She's dead, what difference does it make on how I live my life?

"Come on. Don't get scared now." I laughed.

"I like how you think. Glad you're back." Zac laughed with me and patted me on the back. It made me feel.....gross. I'm sure the feeling will pass.

We went to a ground floor window and to our surprise saw a bunch of boxes and an almost empty room. What were they packing for? Were they moving? Or was someone moving in?

Zac eventually picked the back door lock and we slowly crept inside making sure to leave the door open for a quick and quiet escape.

What room were we looking for? A swift glace around the house told us that someone was definitely moving out - not in. Good news for us, that means Katie still lives here.

"Up" I whispered as Zac nodded and followed behind me.

We slowly step by step walked up the stairs cringing at every small squeak that came from us being too heavy.

As we reached the top we both went in different directions. I walked to left, towards the light that we saw from outside.

The room had a glow coming from it, the door was kept open ever so slightly. I brushed it against my hand before pushing it open. A small night light plugged into an outlet close to the window was what we were seeing.

I carefully scanned the room before laying my eyes on 2 beds. 1 empty and the other not.

This was it. It was Katie's room. Katie and Emily's...but Emily wasn't here to fill the empty sheets.

I took a deep breath in. This is it. This is what sends me back into the dark version of myself for good. I know it. Let's do this, I thought.

I walked over to the filled bed watching for a second as this girl slept. She had dark brown hair, and a very tiny nose. Almost laughable. It crunched up while she was sleeping. Was she angry?

"Creepy dude." A mocking voice whispered from across the room. It was Zac.

I put my finger to my mouth. "Shhh" Flipping him off after words.

Both of us stood at either side of her bed and nodded to each other right before I ripped the covered off of her and Zac gripped her mouth pulling her out of bed.
