the sun was the first to welcome me
to the great unknown.i like to think she rules this dark palace
like an ancient queen to
a kingdom of undiscovered magic.she likes hearing my dramatic tales
and my potential origin stories,
though i must yell them to her
for i cannot go too close.she understands,
though i have an inkling
that she has a deep ache of sadness
within her molten heart.most are afraid of her, you see
as she burns with a scorching fire
that she cannot control.
it's difficult to look at her, too
for her unwavering light makes my eyes ache.to make her feel better,
i call herfire dreamer
as she often tells me of her life
as a young star;how she saw the earth develop
in front of her very eyes
and watched humans
learn to take their first steps
in space.she feels such a sense of responsibility
to keep the earth alive and well
but sometimes i thinkshe wishes she was more appreciated.
—i've learned that the contents of your heart and soul are always more important than your appearance.
