i let the weight drift off my shoulders.
the weight
of the expectations i gave myself.the weight
of the opinions i never asked to hear.i've noticed
that the meteoroids
try to understand me,
but they never really do."you're so small,
and can't do anything on your own.
how do you expect to be a great adventurer?""you're much too quiet. if you speak more,
then perhaps you would have more friends.""your dreams are a little... ridiculous."
the meteoroids...
i like to think they have good intentions
that they care and want nothing
but the best for mebut i find it hard to believe.
i'm starting to think
they're not my true friends.i expected them to support me
to encourage mebut they do the opposite, instead.
and so
i take a step towards becoming
the astronaut i always wanted to beone that is
braver
kinder
more confidentand i let this negativity
drift far, far away.—it was all space junk, anyways
