Mistake

Chapter thirteen

Ivy was curled up on top of the enclosure, her wing dangling off one side and her tail off another, almost blocking all sight of the dragonets. Stella was up on one of the perches, her tail covering her head as she slept. Lilac was healing, only faint twinges of pain when she put pressure on her ribs. Lorant's 'visitors' were scheduled to arrive soon and Lilac didn't want them to see the hatchlings. Lorant stood as someone knocked on the door, before opening it, allowing three kymari inside.
"So those are the larger fire lizards?" One asked
"Yes Tellus, that one is Ivy, and the other is Stella" Lorant replied, before looking over towards the enclosure, "the two fire lizards in there are mates, although one has young and is very aggressive"
One of the other kymari sat, looking at me
"Is that the one we were told rescued the child?" He asked, looking to Lorant
"Yes, Caelum, if she allows you, you may get a closer look ,but watch for the spines of her tail."
He walked over, before reaching out to inspect  the spines, before sliding his finger along the outer edge
"They don't look very shar- ouch!"
"They are usually softer, until she vibrates them."
I let out a chuckling sound, almost smirking at him before gaping at Stella as she dove downwards, landing on Lorant's shoulder.
The third Kymari, a female gazed up at Stella
"May I?" She inquired.
"If she allows you, although she is more feisty" Lorant chuckled, letting her reach up and stroking the smaller dragon's ear tuft, before stopping, startled, as Stella let out a purr, and shivered all the way down to her tail. The female shot Lorant a questioning look and he smiled
"She liked it Melari, and she seems to want you to you to continue." He answered as Stella looked over, confused as to why it had stopped.
Ivy huffed, curling her head under her wing to sleep as they sat down to talk.
"Have the fire lizards chosen you as their handler?" Caelum asked
"No, and they have yet to seem to want to bond with anyone." Ivy rolled over, showing Kai and Lilac curled up together. Caelum walked back over, before looking back towards the others
"Those two are mates?"
"Yes, and would need to be taken together."
Lorant sighed, "we haven't found anyone that would be willing to take them both, and that they have both liked"
Caelum looked thoughtful for a minute before sitting in the seat closest to them as Ivy sent a short message through the private mindlink before actually falling asleep. Lilac looked towards Caelum, and raised her ear tufts, before tilting her head. She let out a chirping noise and fluffed her wings up before falling asleep
"Why does that one have different coloured patches of scales? It hasn't been recorded on any of the others we've seen" Melari queried
"They think it is vitiligo, a condition that affected many species before they were wiped out." Lorant sighed before continuing.
They continuedtalking for a few hours, before the three left for their own homes.
