I didn't panic.

I remembered that there was another note in the box, along with the dress and mask.
[If the smoke gets too much, the mask will help.]

At the time, the mask didn't do much but confuse me, the mask looked like a regular old mask. But, a button was hidden on the mask's inside part. Pressing the button activated a heat-sensing mode, which made locating Chris a million times easier.

Chris was standing near the center of the ballroom with his gun close to him. I started walking over to him when my heart dropped.

Heavy footsteps thundered into the ballroom.

My focus turned towards the entrance.

Armed guards walked in, uniformly, their footsteps shook the ground echoing off the walls. I had little time to react, so I did it quickly. I approached the cocky Chris and pointed the muzzle to the back of his head, "It's a shame, we're having such nice weather." I said before pulling the trigger.
His body immediately went limp, I knew for a fact that those guards heard the gunshot, but when I looked up they were blocking the entrance that led back to the bathroom. So I had no choice but to jump out of one of the windows.

I turned back and looked around, most of the area around me was yellow or purple, but I knew there was an exit somewhere. Fortunately, I found an area that was solid purple, I ran towards it and felt around for a latch. "Gotcha!" I said to myself before pulling the latch toward me and pushing the window open.

I looked back at the guards who were still looking around before jumping out the window.
The window led to an alley behind the Town hall which was dark and very secluded. Though, I could see police lights bouncing off the surrounding walls.

Sirens that could be heard for miles beyond masked the sound of my heels clicking heavily on the concrete.
I ran with my dress bunched in my hands for a few minutes before I turned a corner. A single street light came into view, but what I saw stopped me. The sensor on my headphones picked up a warm body standing under the light. My body came crashing to a halt.

For the first time in forever, I was genuinely terrified. I can't get caught.

He was I n a similar masquerade mask.

I picked my dress up and slowly walked past the streetlight, my heart in my ass.
The man walked into the middle of the alley, blocking my path. "You're running out pretty late," he said. In situations like this I shouldn't immediately jump to trying to fight, I should try to talk my way out. But, something told me that wouldn't work.

"I Got scared and found myself in this alley, and now I can't find my way out," I lied through my teeth. He smirked and held out his hand. "Let me help you." He offered. I hesitated for a moment but soon took his hand and followed closely behind him. "Can I have your name?" I asked, "you know, I've got to tell someone how helpful you're being right now." I concluded. The guy turned to me, and the next few words that came out of his mouth made it feel like a thousand-pound weight hand fallen onto my hand.

"Jayson, thanks for your consideration, Jane." He said.

I stopped immediately and stared at him. Jayson stopped and i felt his eyes piercing through his mask.

"How long did you think you could really keep up the act?" He asked. I stayed silent. There really is no fighting this guy, the first time was honestly just a fluke. There's no way I can pull that off again. Jayson, still holding my hand, approached me and ducked down to eye level with me. "I told you to stay out of my way, and here you are. What do you think I should do with you?" He asked.
I looked down at my dress and then back up at him. I really am stuck, there's no getting out of this right now.

"Nothing huh?" He asked, following my silence.

"You wanna know the funny thing?" He asked. I stayed quiet. "I knew it was you from the beginning." He said. It might have shown on my face that i was shocked. "Yeah I know, crazy. Your work is really sloppy, you don't clean up after yourself, you only make your messes bigger." He explained. This brought me down a bit, I tugged at my hand and tried to pull it away but he didn't budge.

"Let me go right now," I demanded. He didn't listen. His grip remained locked around my wrist and we stood staring at each other. "I'm in a good mood today so I won't turn you in," He said, though that didn't make me feel any better. "So then what! You're gonna torture me or something? Why the hell can't you leave me alone?!" I yelled.

"HEY!" Someone yelled.

Jayson and I both turned back to the guy. "What are you doing back here to this lady?" He asked, maybe this is my chance. Is what I thought, "Sir, calm down It's not what you think." Jayson said, I looked up at him and then back at the guy. The moment I opened my mouth to say something, he squeezed my wrist, tighter than before.
"Then what are you doing?" He asked. "Me and my girlfriend are just trying to work something out." He said. I pulled my arm away. "NO we are Not!" I yelled, Jayson pulled my arm towards him.

"Yes, we are." He said. He didn't yell, or scream, he spoke calmly and looked at me with the most convincing expression. I gave in almost immediately, "It's just a misunderstanding, we're resolving some issues," I lied. The guy looked at me for a second before turning around. "Okay, you guys be careful." He advised.

Jayson looked down at me.

"Don't try that again." He said.
