Carly's POV
Leo held my hand tightly as we go down the stairs behind Matt, the air was different. It was very heavy and I know it too well

My parents sat across at a detective who was wearing a windbreaker jacket, he looked at me and I saw jet black eyes that were reassuring and warm. My parents made room for me to sit at their middle, my brothers sat at the other couches and Leo was behind me with a hand at my shoulder

The detective cleared his throat and introduced himself nicely
"Hello there, I am Detective Ryan" he put down his ID on the coffee table for all f us to see, he also pulled out a recorder

"I would like the ask the cooperation of your family members and boyfriend please let me talk to Miss Carly alone"

Everybody glanced at each other, it was important to cooperate because everyone would be a distraction if I am being interviewed. Me and Dad gave me a quick side gig, my brothers especially Sean gave me a small fist bump before going out along with Leo who kissed me on the head

They went to another room, the living room was now silent and it was only me and the detective whose overwhelming presence made me nervous even though I'm not the one who stabbed Kevin. He turned on the recorder and explained to me how this will work

"So where were you when Kevin was stabbed?" He asked me as he sat straight on the couch in front of me

"I was at Leo's home watching over Kathrina his little sister because we got a call late at night that Kevin was missing, Leo volunteered to go out and search for him with the others"

He nodded his head a little and made sure to take down simple notes in his small pad
"Why didn't you go with him in the search?"

"His mother was out abroad for a few days and before we got the call we had a feud with Leo's past friends who abruptly came to his doorstep and tried to force themselves in, since we got the call we know that it was too dangerous to leave his little sister alone and I did my best to help out in the search and calm Stacy down who was having a breakdown trying to find Kevin after their fight" I answered the best as I can

"Ok thank you for your help, is there anything else that you would like to add?" He questioned me like he was writing for any new pieces of information

I sighed as I clenched my hand tightly on my lap
"I don't think this was the only case that they tried to attack me"

He leaned forward for a bit like he got interested in my words, I continued my explanation
"I believe it started 5 months ago where I came out to the laundromat and a guy almost kidnapped me and kept calling me Maria, it was weird at first but there are many occasions that the name kept popping up"

He believed all the words that I said regarding the attempted kidnapping
"I believe you got your tests done by Miss Anna your friend's mother who is a scientist yes?"

I nodded quickly, he went to Merlin's place and I think he told him any information and evidence they gathered about me. He massaged his wrist for a bit like he was thinking up more questions to ask
"Was there a certain individual that you could think that is responsible for this?"

"It might sound crazy but I think it was a supposed dead person named Elijah Audelair" I answered with fear taking over me, I can't believe the man whose face I can't remember is tormenting me

He pulled out some files in his body bag and searched through them as he gave a paper to me
"Your boyfriend and his family gave me a tip that the lake used to belong to them and it was their dumping ground for their valuables"

My eyes went to the paper he gave me and a shiver went down my spine as soon as I read the title that is written in huge letters in bold font
"Missing Children's Cases"

I flipped to see the first child in the picture and I couldn't believe what I am seeing
"It seems there were many missing children and the families who reported it didn't get immediate action quickly, one of their first victims is your friend Hunter Antonio"

The picture showed Hunter who was little and gave the camera a toothy smile and bright eyes, he went missing at an early age
"Your friend is now cooperating with us right now about this and he told us that you were also a victim"

"What?" I muttered under my breath with disbelief, my eyes skimmed over his family's report case and a missing flyer with his picture. Hunter was the only person that I know who knows more about this case but never once that it goes through my mind that he was a victim of it too

"If you counted every child that went missing it would be a total of 50 kids including Hunter" he informed me, my heart sunk for Hinter and the children who are innocent but got involved in this mad man's wild dream

"Miss Anna told me that Elijah could be my father because I have the same lotus mark"
Ryan pulled out another folder and gave it to me this time it contained many pictures of the lots mark on the skin

"These are the dead bodies of the children who also bear the lotus mark, many of them were found in the woods chopped up in pieces to make them unidentifiable. Some are even left there to rot for months" he tried to tell me gently as possible because right now I can feel myself puking and fainting at any moment now at this new information

"Unfortunately there was no evidence to give the Audelaire's a search warrant for their home so in the end all the cases of the children were dropped easily much to the parent's disapproval" Ryan was trying to take the information in slowly but he too is having a hard time believing this situation

"I have asked all of your friends and they said that you are a genetic mutation caused by Elijah's obsession with creating a human with a genetic mutation, we have asked Hunter to get some tests done by Miss Anna also if his genetics are changed by the foreign body" I skimmed over the missing children's report cases and one, in particular, caught my eyes

"Why is my friend Jana in this?"
