"We should go out tonight" Alex says, giving me a begging look.
I am honestly so grateful for them. Alex and Reggie decided with everything going on, they'd stay.
"I agree, there's a music showcase tonight at some cafe" Reggie says.
"I don't know guys, im kinda tired" I comment. Im not sure if that's what I am but it's the best I can come up with.
"Come on Julie. We haven't done anything in forever!" Alex whines.
"You need to get out. You can't let his dumb decisions influence you. Just one night, if you don't have fun then we can come home?" Reggie begs.
"hmmm. you guys are right. What's one night?" I say. Both of the guys jump up with excitement and I smile a little. It feels so... unnatural.
I can't believe smiling feels so unnatural.

"Next up is Julie and the phantoms!" The announcer says. I look at Alex and Reggie, both of them beaming from ear to ear.
"What's going on?" I ask, totally confused.
"We're performing, come on!" Reggie says, handing me a paper. I unfold it and it's my song, one of my songs with notes and stuff.
"Guys, I can't. We can't. There's not a way I'm going up there"
"Good cause looks like Luke is heading over here. Y'all have a nice chat"
"Oh god. Umm fine, let's just go" I say, grabbing their arms and dragging them up. Everyone starts to cheer and my heart beats quick.
"Umm hi" I say unto the microphone, static bouncing back. I pull back the microphone and take a deep breath.
"Sorry guys. This is my first time performing" I say. The crowd starts cheering and clapping.
"Here goes nothing I guess"
The crowd goes wild and Reggie hugs me, pulling me super tight. I pull back and he looks at me, a look that makes unfamiliar butterflies flutter in my stomach.
"Jules" he whispers, his voice with a different rasp then I've ever heard.
I shallow hard, not knowing what I'm doing.
I wrap my arms around him and pull him to my lips.

wrong. It feels wrong. Don't get me wrong, he's a good kisser. But when his lips touch mine, when he pulls me closer, it feels so so wrong.
I pull away and I get a good look at Reggie. He's smiling. Shit he's smiling.
I turn to the crowd and catch the eyes of none other than Luke. The crowd roars louder and I start to totally freak.
"I-I-I-I... I have to go" I say, stuttering and running off stage.
My chest tightens and the cold air hits me, the air making me shiver. I sit on the curb of the sidewalk and I feel someone sit beside me, probably Alex or Reggie. I wait for them to say something but nothing comes.
"so" that voice says. It's Luke, he came out after me. Why the hell is he here?!?
"why did you come out here?" I ask, my voice wavering as I speak.
"You ran out of there, I wanted to make sure you were okay" he says, his hand lightly touching my back. I tense at his touch but then I relax, because of course I do. Because it's Luke.
"You don't care if I'm okay or not" I say, my voice still shaky. I feel so shaky, so uneven.
"Actually, I do Julie. And I'm sorry about everything. I'm not gonna try to explain and what happened, it won't help. Just no I never meant to hurt you. Now I better go, your... guy is coming over" Luke says, rising from the curb. He gets up and walks away. I watch him, the lights of the streets lighting him up. My heart still beats out of my chest thinking about him, watching him, being around him.
"Reg" I say, getting up and meeting him.

"I-" he cuts me off, kissing me again. This kiss is filled with passion and heat, something I haven't felt in what feels like forever.
Of course it's only been a month... it's been a month. A month since my heart broke.
He pulls me close, his arms wrapping around me. This feels so different, so so different.
"I want you Julie" Reggie whispers, before kissing me again.
"Wait wait wait" I say pushing back, my hands firm on his chest. He pulls back, his hands lingering on my hips.
"What's wrong?"
"We can't do this, this can't happen Reggie" I say.
"Julie, I really like you" He says, leaning in and kissing my neck.
"Reggie, Reggie. We can't" I say, taking a step away. I see people around us, trying a go "hide" and take pics. My stomach drops knowing what will be in the papers.
"Why did you kiss me Julie?"
"I don't know Reggie. It was a heat of the moment thing. I think you are great, like really great. But that doesn't mean I wanna date you or I'm in love or anything. I'm so sorry Reg" I say.
"No, it's okay Jules. I understand. I don't know what I was even thinking. I mean, it's not like I haven't tried this before" he jokes. I give him a small smile, hoping to make things better.
"And I know you still love Luke. I'm sorry Julie, I really don't know what I was thinking" he says.
"Friends?" I say.
"Friends for sure" he says. I hug him and he kisses the top of my head.
"Well how about we head home now? Big night am I right" Alex says, coming out of there finally.
