"Ya khadija!" Ammi shouted cutting zina off, is she referring to my mom? Why is she calling her ya? Zina turned and looked at mama and she also  had a confused face

"Asmau" mama whispered in disbelief

"Mama do you know her" afrah asked her mother placing her hand on her mother's shoulder

"Sh-she-she is my sister" Ammi quietly replied making everyone's expression to change from confusion to shock,even Mahmoud that was typing his life away on his phone stopped

"Mama i don't understand,you never told me that you have a sister I thought you were the only child" Zina asked her mother breaking the silence

"It's a long story but before I tell you guys asmau come and give me a big hug" Mama said opening her arms for ammi who gladly hugged her as tears of joy started to glide down their cheeks.Zina's ringing tone made them break the hug and started to wipe each other's tears

"Hello ayman I will call you back" zina whispered into her phone

"But baby I have been craving your voice" ayman whined like a 5 year old making her blush, not matter how much she warned him to stop calling her cute names he won't and she won't lie it always makes her heart to flutter

"Just give me twenty minutes" zina said smiling like a loon, she didn't even know she was smiling till she touched her face

"But-" zina quickly ended the call because she knows if she continues listening to his voice she might just forget about her mom having a sister

"Who were you talking to?" Adnan asked trying to tame his jealousy but a tinge of it showed in his voice

"Oh no one" zina said scratching her head

"Mama we are ready" zina added breaking the eye contact between her and Adnan

"Okay" mama said

"Asmau and I are the only children of my father, after two years of giving birth to me umma, my mother gave birth to asmau but due to some complications umma couldn't give birth anymore so us being the only children they will ever have umma and abba made sure we have everything we ever wanted and needed when I was 20 asmau introduced hassan to umma and abba but Abba didn't like him and disapproved of him" mama stopped to take a long breath before she continued

"Asmau started rebelling and throwing tantrums then one faithful day we woke only to find a letter written by asmau saying that she can't live without hassan so she has ran away with him and that Abba should please give his consent so that she could marry him. Abba got really mad and gave his consent saying that he doesn't want anything to do with asmau he banned everyone from looking for asmau's whereabouts or talking about her, he made me promise that even after his death I shouldn't look for her and that's what happen. Asmau I'm sorry I didn't stand by your side when you needed to lean your head on someone's shoulder, I have spent years regretting it I have failed as a big sister" Mama concluded wiping her tears away with the tissue zina passed her

"Ya khadija I should have listened to you I should have listened to what Abba said" Ammi said wiping her tears with the back of her hand

"I should have listened ya khadija, I wanted to run back home but that monster didn't allow me ya khadija" asmau wailed making her elder sister to quickly embrace her, zinat looked at Mahmoud's direction when ammi called his dad a monster but he didn't even flinch nor look affected that she called his dad a monster

"I thought hassan was the one for me, Abba was right I shouldn't have married a Russian man" asmau wailed harder remembering her 20 year old self in the freezer
