Edge of Dawn

Sliver of light on the low horizon,

Another day in a thousand days.

Eyes in darkness, clouded thoughts,

Only in dreams do I dream of you.

These sunlit lands forever unseen,

There you soar on golden wings.

Would you tarry at the edge of dawn?

Would I find you there before the dying light?

A malediction eternally binds us,

Hearts though entwined, to never meet.

I walk in the shadows of your waking dreams,

On your wings I lived through my darkest hour.

I'd sell this hapless soul a thousand times,

If only for a whisper or glimpse of you.

In the throes of first light or the edge of night,

You'll find me there, in a place beyond lifetimes.
