Second Chance

73 9 63

Crimson sorrow seeps through my bones,

Nothing of worth but a cairn of stones,

With unshed tears and despair a river,

This raging heart thrums a final thunder.

A second chance, a whispered plea,

I dared implore the Powers that be.

This exchange undeserving of the other,

One life's thread severed for another.

So I dwell in his beloved's shell,

A secret untold, though I love him well.

Tore down his walls of implacable guilt,

Our blissful joy upon its ashes built.

As we wade across turbulent shores,

The truth does quake with dreadful force.

And though one day it pierces like a lance,

I'll give this love my all, this second chance.
