Chapter two
The death cure

Let's get into it

"She's not here," I mutter to myself, my voice barely audible over the noise of the crowd, the people cheering that they have been saved. Panic rises in my chest as I realized that she is nowhere to be seen

As I slide down against the cold, hard wall behind me, my heart feels heavy with disappointment. tears well up in my eyes, blurring my vision as I struggle to come to terms with the fact that Astrid is not here, the one person I have been searching for, the one person I have been yearning to find, has slipped through my fingers once again

"She's not here!" I cried out, my voice cracking with emotion.

A familiar voice breaks through my despair, and I look up to see Newt kneeling down in front of me.

The concern in Newt's eyes mirrors my own anguish, and I feel a wave of gratitude for my friend's unwavering support

"Why isn't she here?" I whisper, my voice filled with a mixture of sorrow and frustration, the question hung in the air, unanswered and heavy with the weight of uncertainty, and as I gaze into Newt's eyes, I know that the search for Astrid was far from over

"I don't know but we will find her okay" His arms reach up and he places them gently on my shoulders

"What if we don't?" My voice cracks once again

"Hey, Attie never stopped looking for you, even when everyone thought you were dead, we won't stop until we find her" He tries to comfort me

"Okay" I breath out shakily

"Gally?" I question looking at my brother standing before me

"Astrid?" He questions with a slight smile

I run over to him and wrap my arms around him, his arms automatically wrap around my back

"I thought you were dead?" I pull away from the hug looking at him

"I am" He mutters

"What but you're right here?..." I question confused

Suddenly a spear is thrown, right by my head, almost piercing it, but instead it pierces Gally in the shoulder instead

Gally starts choking up blood as he looks down at me, before stumbling to the ground

"No no no no" I say repeatedly falling to my knees

"Gally stay with me please" Tears start to fall from my eyes as i watch him choke on his own blood

"Stay awake" I say

"Open your eyes" I notice them closing slowly

"GALLY WAKE UP" I hit his chest

Then my eyes go to the spear, i wrap my hands around it before pulling, ripping it out of his shoulder

I throw it on the ground before i place my hands on his cheeks

"Gally please" I cry out

"Stay with me! Open your eyes!"

"GALLY"

"WAKE UP"

"PLEASE JUST WAKE UP!"

I shut my eyes and when i open them again, i'm in the lab
