Rohan Will Answer

Serena's POV

Papa and I were walking past the barn when we saw Merry run out. After Gandalf and Pippin, who are on Shadowfax. I wasn't there last night when Pippin touched the orb. Mama had chosen to stay and become mortal. I felt her do it and went into a very deep sleep. I didn't wake up until an hour ago. So Papa had been filling me in on what had happened.

Anyway, we follow Merry up the stairs of the watch tower. "Merry!" Papa calls.From the tower, Merry watches Shadowfax run towards Gondor. Papa and I join him & look as well.

"He's always followed me. Everywhere I went, since before we were tweens.I would get him into the worst sort of trouble. But I was always there to get him out.And now he's gone" Merry explains. "Just like Frodo, and Sam" he adds sadly.

"One thing we've learnt about Hobbits" I tell him.

"They are hardy folk" Papa finishes and I wag my tail.

"Foolhardy maybe. He is a Took" Merry states and we all laugh together. I then run off to find Legolas practicing his archery. Not that he needs it.

"Hello Serena" he says smiling looking at me as he shoots the arrow. It hits the target dead center.

"Show off" I mumble in his head and he chuckles.

"Why did you not wake last night?" he asks me. "Don't lie or change the subject" he adds.

"Mama has chosen to stay, the light of Eldar is leaving her. I saw it with my own eyes in a dream, she is having grandfather reforgeNarsil. I am weak at the  moment, but I'm getting stronger. I'll be ready when the beacons are lit" I assure him.

"You can fool the others Serena, but not me. I see what this does to you" he states stroking my fur. "Please try to rest before we go to Gondor" he says.

"Of course, but you must also. Even if elves need little sleep. I know you are tired" I tell him.

(Two or three days later)

I was resting in the sun beside Papa as he kept an eye out for the beacon. As I was about to dose off papa stands up suddenly. Opening my eyes blinking I see the final beacon was lit and we run to the great hall."The Beacons of Minas Tirith! The Beacons are lit!" papa shouts.

"Gondor calls for aid" I state and we all look at Theoden.

"And Rohan will answer" he declares and I wag my tail."Muster the Rohirrim!" he shouts and I howl. Papa and I head for the stables, so that he could get his horse. We see Eowyn also preparing a horse.

"You ride with us?" I ask confused.

"Just to the encampment. It's tradition for the women of the court to farewell the men" she states. Papauncovers a sword, hidden in Éowyn's saddle and she covers it back up with a blanket."The men have found their captain, they will follow you into battle, even to death. You have given us hope" she tells Papa.

We join the others outside and I see Gimli riding with Legolas again. But Merry has his own pony.Merry tries to get his stubborn pony to move; the pony ignores his kicks. I bark at it and it moves with me beside it."Now is the hour, Riders of Rohan, oaths you have taken! Now, fulfill them all! To Lord and Land!" Eomer shouts.The Rohirrim ride to Dunharrow, with Merry on his galloping pony. As I ran beside him.

(Gondor) Third Person

Inside, Denethor eats and Pippin stands nearby."Can you sing, Master Hobbit?" Denethor asks him.

"Well, yes. At least, well enough for my own people. But, we have no songs for great halls and... evil times" Pippin explains.

"And why should your songs be unfit for my halls? Come, sing me a song" Denethor tells him.As Pippin sings, Faramir's men gallop toward Osgiliath, and Denethor eats messily.

"Home is behind, the world ahead
and there are many paths to tread
Through shadow to the edge of night
until the stars are all alight
Mist and shadow cloud and shade
all shall fade, all shall fade" Pippin sings.As Pippin's song ends, orc archers appear from within Osgiliath, and fire on Faramir's men. Pippinis holding back tears.
