Lainey and Mitch sat in the car once again heading along what seemed like a long road leading to nowhere. The tension being rather thick considering the two had done more colliding then anything else.

Lainey was still more then pissed at Mitches little interrogation he gave her at the motel. She hated explaining that story, it always brought up unwanted emotions she spent so long burying away.

Mitch felt embarrassed for the unneeded questioning. He felt guilty as he watched Lainey dig through her past just to explain something so small.
He let a small sigh escape his lips "hey eh, I'm sorry for what happened" he apologized

"Whatever" Lainey shook her head. She wasn't  really in the mood for an apology right now, after the nightmare she had, hurting her hand and listening to Mitch lecture her, so far it wasn't a good day

"Hey I'm trying here" he told her

She glared at him "Yeah well try with someone who cares" she told him "All I am is some dumb case so you don't have apologize because we both know you don't mean it"

He narrowed his eyes "What is your problem?" He asked

She scoffed "my problem?" She repeated "my problem it 2 years ago my husband was suppose to be dead, now suddenly he's not and I'm a viable suspsect ." She replied "My life has been nothing but hell since that trip and you don't get to sit there and judge me because you have no fucking idea how I feel!" She yelled

Mitch bit his tongue as he struggled all urges to spill his response. Of course he knew how she felt, he had lost his wife just the same way she lost her husband, of course he wasn't expecting Katrina to come back to life anytime soon.

Rather then engage in any further arguments, Mitch stayed silent with the hope Lainey would too.

Lainey noticed mitchs silence and shook her head a little. She pulled a book from her bag and opened it up onto the page she had recently stopped on. She had lost any want to read in the last couple of years and thought now was a better time than any to start it up again.

...

The door opened of Lainey and Noah's house and Noah walked in after his long day of work. "Hey sweetie" he greeted his fiancé

She pointed her finger "Ssh, shh" she shushed him "I'm about to finish this book one second" she told him.

Noah watched with a small smile on his face, as Lainey was curled up on the couch about to  finish the last page of yet another book.
He watched as her face dropped with dismay "oh wha-.. come on" she dropped the book and sighed "that was so disappointing"

"What happened?" He asked sitting next to her

"A cliff hanger" she replied "the author is about to publish the next one though, so I guess that's a bonus" she shrugged

"How did dress shopping go?" Noah asked.

Noah and Lainey had been planning their wedding that was in a few months and Lainey was suppose to go dress shopping... that of course did not happen

She smiled "well.. the thing is.. I got really engrossed in my book so I called Sarah and told her I was sick" she explained

Noah shook his head and chuckled at his fiancé "I should have known"

"Well you know what I'm like when I find the perfect book" she argued jokingly

"Trust me I know" he nodded "so how about tonight, we curl up on the couch and watch a movie?" He asked

Lainey smiled "is that even a question, I would love nothing more" she smiled

"Alright I'm gonna to start dinner" she sighed

"Ah ah" Noah stopped her "let me do it... since you are sick and all"

*

"Lainey" Laineys eyes fluttered open, the sun burned for a few seconds before her eyes adjusted. Once they did she seen they had stopped in the middle of a road.  "what happened?" She mumbled

"We ran out of gas, I seem a gas station about half a mile back, I'm gonna go get gas come on" he told her

"I'm fine here" She said, pointing at the man "and before you say it's your job, I have a gun in my bag and I know how to shoot" she reminded him

"How do I know you won't make a run for it?" Mitch asked

She sighed "Because Mitch, it's like 70° we are in the middle of nowhere and why would I make a run for it when I could continue to sit in this very comfortable car" she argued a fair point

Mitch sighed loudly not having the energy to argue with her again "alright but if anything happens-

She held her hands up "I'll take full blame" she nodded

Regrettably Mitch began to walk up the long road leaving Lainey in the car that couldn't go anywhere. Hoping he didn't make a huge mistake

Lainey got out of the car and stretched her legs. She Leaned against it letting the sun glow against her skin hoping to get a tan. not even a minute had passed and she was already bored out of her mind. She grabbed her phone from the the seat she was just sat on and took her earphones from her pocket letting the music play loudly in her ears.

5 minutes had passed and Lainey felt a tap on her shoulder. She took her earphones out and turned to see a woman smiling at her. She had long black hair that fell neatly past her shoulders, her green eyes squinted towards Lainey as she tried to protect them from the sun. Lainey noticed a few small details, like the small freckle under her left eye and the way her nose sloped a little more downward then normal. How her moderately pale skin was slowly turning tan by the sun and of course the strong scent of sun cream.

"Hi" She smiled "you need a hand?" She asked

Lainey shook her head "Oh no I'm okay thank you" she smiled politely

"I just seen you stood here and-.."

"Just admiring the view" Lainey lied to the unknown woman hoping she would leave.

"Ah" she nodded "well I hope you have a nicely journey" she smiled and walked away

Lainey put her earphones back in and sighed with Boredom. She looked up to the sky and seen it was just The blue of the horizon, there wasn't a cloud to be seen....

Her breath quickly hitched as she felt  an arm warp tightly around her neck....
