His Brother - My Mate

Chapter 4: First Shift

I'm restless, I'm too hot lying in bed with Sterling. I can feel his calm deep breaths on my forehead indicating he is sleeping deeply. I feel an urge deep inside of me to get outside, I need air. Some thing is wrong with me. Something is happening.

I stumble out of the room, where is Owen? I need to find Owen, I need to go home. I don't feel well. I clumsily make my way down the stairs, bumping into the wall once or twice on my way. It is too hot for me in here, I need to get outside, now.

I run through the living room, past Asher lying on the couch. I hear movement behind me but I don't stop, I make my way hurriedly to the back door and push my way outside. Owen, I attempt to shout. I want my brother, I need to go home. As soon as I make it into the backyard, I see Asher looking down at me with an encouraging smile. "Olivia, let your wolf take over" he commands with a calming voice.

I'm about to shift, that's why I don't feel well. I can't calm down, I don't want to loose control. I don't want to loose control in front of Asher, I need Owen and my parents. "Don't fight it" Asher says with and outstretched hand coming closer. I take a few calming breaths and before I know it I feel my wolf take over.

I'm lying on the grass in my wolf form, under the moon light I can tell I am Snow White all over apart from my front right paw which is jet black. The wolf in me, "Mia" I hear her purring in my head, sniffs the night ear, liking, no really liking what she can smell in the air but it doesn't smell of the forest that's just a few metres away. We lick our black paw before rolling on our belly looking up at the moon. 'What if there really is a moon goddess' I think, before Mia interrupt me with a 'duh'.

Suddenly I'm broken out of my own little world. How long have we been like this on the ground, everything happen so quickly. I see a yet black wolf standing over me and I don't know what comes over me but we or shall I say Mia starts to lick the only part of Asher's wolf that isn't yet black, his right paw which is Snow White. 'Mia stop' I growl at her in my head, but she just continues, what surprises me is that Asher's wolf doesn't push us away. I'm sure I hear a purring sound echoing deep in the chest.

Asher's wolf walks around me, sniffing me before he starts licking our ears and our eyes before moving lower down our wolf body. We expose our neck to him, submitting to him, only because he is our future Alpha, but I can tell that Mia is enjoying this a little too much. 'We have a boyfriend Mia, get a grip'. Again she ignores me, I'm going to have to work on getting control I realise. Asher starts to lick our wolf belly, that is when I hear a noise and see Owen has come out of the back door, he must have heard or smelt me transform.

I finally get control back, embarrassed about what Owen just saw and take off sprinting in my wolf form. I haven't made it very far and turn my head as I hear a snarl coming from Asher's mouth as Owen transforms into his wolf. I know Owen wanted to come after me, make sure I was ok during my first shift. Asher turns and starts to run after me. I speed up, not really knowing where I'm going.

I'm so tired from my shift so I haven't been running long before I slow down to more of a jog which soon turns into a walk. I can hear him behind me. He walks up beside me, him nudging me in the side but we just continue to walk, Asher steering us in the direction back to his house. We are nearing the edge of the forest before it turns into Asher's family garden. I'm not ready to go back inside, I also don't know how to shift back to my human form so I decide to lie down with my head on my front paws.

To my surprise Asher's wolf does the same next to me. We lie there for maybe an hour, looking at the moon, licking each other's and our owns paws before I feel Asher's wolf get up. He shifts back into his human form next to me, 'Mia, don't you dare look', too late.

"It's ok, we are werewolves. You'll see me like this sooner or later. I'll go inside get you some clothes then I'll help you shift back" Asher says in a low husky voice. I just role onto my side in response. What did he mean by that, sooner or later? I see Asher jog back to me 2 mins later holding a pair of his shorts and a white T-shirt for me. "I need to you stay calm and think about your human form Olivia, now it's your turn to take control." Asher encourages me.

I do as I was told and before I can think about hiding behind a bush before trying to shift I'm back in my human form. I'm blushing so deeply trying to cover my self with my hands. No one has ever seen me naked before. "It's ok Olivia, I'm not looking. Here are your clothes. I was going to turn around, most wolves take longer to shift back their first time. Well done Olivia. Also, your wolf is beautiful." He says blushing to himself. Wait, did I hear the future Alpha call my wolf beautiful and did he blush? Worst of all, did I hear my boyfriends older brother call me beautiful. 'Actually Olivia, he called me beautiful' Mia interrupts my thoughts, pride shining through her voice.

"Thanks, I better get back upstairs" I say, pushing past Asher not looking at him as I walk back into the house. "Olivia", Owen calls as I run up the stairs. "Tomorrow" I call, he knows I will talk to him about what he saw then. Maybe it's because I'm embarrassed I shared such an intimate moment with Sterling's brother, or the fact I didn't wake him to be there for my first shift but I feel too guilty to get back into his bed. Instead I go into Ashers room alone and fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.
