Here she was, getting ready for her "date". Well at least Josephine thought it was a date. In her time this would be a date but in Ivar's time she guesses it wasn't it.
Young woman dressed in a long, blue dress and fur on. The harsh weather of the coast of Norway, was getting onto her nerves. She admitted that the winter was beautiful but too harsh for her liking.
Maybe just maybe she could get warm in Ivar's arms? She though to herself after the thought she quickly scolded herself. 'No way in hell, that will never happen.'
Josephine made her way out of her chamber and into a cold corridor. Grateful for the fur she was wearing, girl made her way down the corridor into the great hall.
When she went inside, Ivar's piercing blue eyes shot at her and he looked surprised.
No one ever dressed up for him, not in that way.
He felt the same sensation, down in his private parts yet he couldn't know what it was. Ivar never felt this way. Only with her.
She sat down opposite of him and smiled.
"Are you feeling well your majesty?"
She asked softly and Ivar almost moaned. Josephine was breathtaking and her voice was like honey for his ears.
"Well yes I'm fine."
Ivar didn't know what to say. The whole dinner was his idea yet she was the one in charge.
Josephine enjoyed it. She just knew Ivar felt the same way she did. Just one push and he will be her's. The girl had no idea what had taken control over her mind, after all she never cared to make any men her's. Teen couldn't bother about it. Also at the end, after one guy tried to be her's she was kicked in the butt, so she didn't want to take any chances with Ivar. Or maybe just maybe, if she's more patient Ivar will come to her, all by himself? Josephine had to wait.
"This afternoon I saw you leave Seer's hut. What did he say to you?" Asked Ivar after a short while.
Josie took a sip of her wine. Which was too disgusting for her but she didn't want to offend anyone.
"I'm pretty sure it's between me and him. Besides he didn't tell me something I didn't know already."
That was a total lie on her part but she knew that Ivar won't push her that much.
"What do you already know?"
"That I'm a traveler."
Ivar raised his eyebrow but left the subjects, he felt like the girl wasn't telling him the whole truth, however he didn't want to push her too much.
"Interesting. Your highness I was wondering, do you plan on staying here long?"
"Already trying to get rid of me?"
The young man chuckled.
"No I don't just wanted to know if I have a chance."
"A chance?"
"To court you. Like a proper man."
He said carefully, a little bit shy and afraid. It was brave of him to ask any women that. Yet alone someone so beautiful and someone so smart. As intelligent as himself.
"That chance was there since I put my eyes on you, your majesty."
Josephine said with a smile and Ivar could swear that the heat inside his stomach was her doing. His heart started to beat faster and he felt like Freya herself, blessed him.
Such beauty, such a blessing. Gods he didn't deserve it.
"Let me ask you then. You won't mind me being a cripple?"
"What's wrong with being a cripple, as long as your mind is in the right place there's nothing wrong with your condition."
Ivar was shocked. She didn't mind him being the way he was at all. He knew that the princess was different from others, but not in that way. This was the moment Ivar realised that love is actually blind.
The young pair, spoke all night. They talked about their childhoods, on the girl's side it was more secretly spoken, they laughed about funny things that happened to them but also shared their worries and sadness. When the yellowish colour of the sunlight, crippled inside the great hall, Josephine bid farewell to Ivar and went for the long rest.
Her happiness would soon vanish anyway.

Across the sea, in the city of Købmannahavn*, young man stood upon his loyal followers.
The young "king" looked unimpressed with the plans of his people.
"Tell me how do you want to defeat him again?"
"Attacking them unexpectedly my lord."
"Gods, have you seen Kattegat? Is a fortress. Warriors are standing there day and night, there's no such thing is unexpected attack when it comes to them."
Then, suddenly a woman's voice called.
"My king if you allow me?"
"Yes speak. Maybe you will have something smart to say."
"My name is Freydys and I think I know how we can conquer Kattegat."
