"But you want it to be that way, don't you?"

The boy was beginning to annoy him, but thinking about it, he didn't know what to expect from Daniel.

"I-I don't know. And I should probably go."

He backed up and ran away from the boy whose name he had simply forgotten. He zigzagged between people walking on the sidewalk and accidentally bumped into one of them when he turned behind him as if the boy was following him.

"I'm sorry, I-I didn't mean to."

He picked himself up off the ground and looked at the one he'd hit.

"That's good."

His smile was to die for.

"Daniel, I... I wanted to talk."

He bit his bottom lip and looked into the emerald eyes of the boy he'd knocked down.

"Fine."

He smiled and walked with him to a nearby café so they could sit down.

"So."

Callum cleared his throat, wanting to ask Daniel a few questions.

"Is there even a we, Daniel? What are we? What's between us?"

He mentally asked the most oft-repeated question. He spoke very quietly so no one else in the room could hear him.

"We are just strangers with the same desire to be loved."

The brunette replied with a serious expression and pulled out a cigarette.

"You're not going to smoke in front of me, are you?"

"Yes," he replied.

The blond boy retorted in disgust.

"Why do you care?"

Daniel chuckled and lit the cigarette.
